Because why the hell not?
4/12. Not great, but I'm still proud of the Safdies call.

This is a big one if you want to talk about acting - any attempts to stop the Pitt/Zellwegger/Dern trains really start here - to me this is clearly Pesci's best chance for an actual win along with LA/NSFC (Pacino's are more later if he has any) and I really really want to pick Sandler here but just can't imagine it and the world may stop turning on its axis if that happens.......NBR was a surprise to me.

I think Céline Sciamma could take Best Director here, i’ve seen the movie in a couple of top 10s from NY critics and they had Portrait very high in their rankings (#1 from Erhlich).
My predictions: Best Picture: The Irishman (alt. Parasite) Best Director: Bong, Parasite (alt. Sciamma, Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Feu) Best Actor: Driver, Marriage Story (alt. Sandler, Uncut Best Actress: Awkwafina, The Farewell (alt. Moss, Her Smell) Best Supporting Actor: Pesci, The Irishman (alt. Pacino, The Irishman) Best Supporting Actress: Lopez, Hustlers (alt. Dern, Marriage Story) Best Screenplay: Marriage Story (alt. Uncut Gems) Best First Film: Booksmart. Best Foreign Language Film: Parasite (alt. Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Best Animated Film: I Lost My Body. Best Non-Fiction Film: Hail Satan? Best Cinematography: The Lighthouse (alt. Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Feu)

Maybe Pain And Glory could surprise here for Best Picture.
Not saying it will win, but Time Magazine and Indiewire have both named it their Best Movie of 2019, so it's got some pull in critical circles.
And I feel like Banderas is likely to win a big critics prize at some point, so maybe he's in the running for Best Actor.
With them giving wins nobody called to Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish in recent years, I can see at least one completely unexpected choice in one of their acting categories (like I can imagine them giving one of the supporting awards to Da'Vine Joy Randolph or Wesley Snipes in Dolemite just to fuck with people)
