Best Picture: Marriage Story Best Director: The Irishman Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio Best Actress: Scarlett Johansson Supporting Actor: Al Pacino Supporting Actress: Laura Dern Original Screenplay: Knives Out Adapted Screenplay: Joker
But who fucking knows. I know they like Marty and WB a lot so the director and adapted screenplay pics. I tried to find a place for Richard Jewell too but couldn’t find one (supporting actress maybe?)

Isn't NBR another group that's very small - like under 50 members? I think in years like this these awards are really deceptive because you can win such a small plurality and come out on top with little shifts in the groupthink and that people later misread.
I could see something like 1917 or Jojo Rabbit winning BP and people misreading the Oscar race because of it.....that sort of 2014 A Most Violent Year thing.

NBR and the top critics awards are not really Oscar indicators, and I think most people know that. They don't even try to predict the Oscars, so there's that for one. At best, they can help get someone nominated by giving them a boost, but that's about it.
Anyway, my predictions:
Best Picture: Marriage Story (Wrong) Best Director: Martin Scorsese (Wrong) Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix (Wrong) Best Actress: Charlize Theron (Wrong) Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt (Right) Supporting Actress: Kathy Bates (Right) Original Screenplay: Marriage Story (Wrong) Adapted Screenplay: The Irishman (Right)
3 out of 8 predictions were right. Not terrible, but not good either.

I’m not that interested in their ability to predict Oscars (which is not an awards groups job). I just want predictions.

They used to love Eastwood, but I think they cooled down some since the '00s. Same with WB films too. Now they love A24, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the indies list made up of primarily A24 films, and for A24 to win something big probably for The Farewell but who knows maybe they'll go with Willem Dafoe or Adam Sandler or Waves. They also like late breaking films, so I predicted 1917 to win Best Picture even though I don't know if they'll go with two Universal films in a row. BP: 1917 Best Director: Sam Mendes, 1917 Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix, Joker Best Actress: Saoirse Ronan, Little Women Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt, OUATIH Best Supporting Actress: Zhao Shuzhen, The Farewell Best Original Screenplay: Marriage Story Best Adapted Screenplay: Joker Top 10 A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood The Farewell Ford v Ferrari The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Little Women Marriage Story Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Richard Jewell
