Which old age gangster performance do you like more? I hate Road To Perdition tbh but Newman's the one saving grace he's great but........he is still a fake character "none of us will see Heaven" - who talks like that on some level I don't buy him........it's played well by Newman but that movie and that character are dress up BS. Pesci every f'n day.......I mean Road to Perdition is an insanely dishonest movie to me.

Shit, that's a very difficult choice...
I guess I prefer the Pesch.

I liked Pesci but I'm a bit confused by the amount of love that performance is getting. The understated menace thing... I don't know, I've seen it lots of times before (and better), and there wasn't that much more to the performance beyond that understated menace. The mindfuck of the season for me is going to be figuring out how anyone prefers Pesci to Pacino.
Pacino > Newman > Pesci

I liked Pesci but I'm a bit confused by the amount of love that performance is getting. The understated menace thing... People like being surprised with actors, and it's his biggest trump card. No one remembers Pesci being this understated in anything. He utlises stillness in this role more than he ever has before. He's almost always the gesticulating loudmouth in his biggest roles. He was less loud in Raging Bull than some of his later roles , but he might as well be a functional mute in comparison in The Irishman.

Pesci was great, but it's easily Newman.
