The more I think about the Oscar race, I sometimes maybe think he might surprise in the 5th slot but that would be quite a leap - jumping over a whole bunch of guys........on the other hand, I think he has a better shot at the Globe than most people seem to think.
So is he better than last years winner and destined to be left out too?

I’ve been predicting Egerton to get nominated and I think he surges ahead after winning the Comedy/Musical Globe. He definitely seems to have been forgotten in this race but he really shouldn’t be.

Taron
He's so much better than last years winner, that it will make it even more laughable when he (probably) doesn't get nominated.

Taron in Rocketman > Rami in BH
but I prefer Rami overall. He's had more time to amply prove his talent. I need more time with Egerton.

Malek's is legitimately one of the worst performances I've ever seen, and I'm still baffled that it's universally considered good, let alone great.
Egerton on the other hand was pretty good and carried his film like a champ.

Malek was decent and one of the only passable things about Bohemian Rhapsody. Egerton, while not off-the-charts good, was definitely better, and it's a shame that he most likely won't be nominated. I do expect him to get in at the Globes though, and very possibly win.

I do expect him to get in at the Globes though, and very possibly win. I think that category can go a number of different ways. I'm currently predicting DiCaprio because they love him there, but they could decide to go with Murphy since he's a big star too and has the comeback factor. Or they could decide to go with Egerton because he's a rising star, and they do like being able to anoint new talent especially when they're wined and dined like with the whole Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Tom Ford perfume thing, since I've read that Elton John and Taron Egerton have been campaigning a lot. Even Daniel Craig, if he's nominated, might have a very narrow path to win because he's never been nominated or win, and sometimes they do random wins, and I've heard they really like Knives Out from someone that follows their social media accounts. In less competitive years, I would say that they'd go with Sandler because he's also a big star, and in normal years would even have a chance to be nominated for an Oscar given his narrative of "oh my, he can really act", but I think they'll like the other possible nominees' films over Uncut Gems. This year also seems too stacked, so his narrative really got off the ground when in the past few years when Best Actor was pretty dire, he might have been able to be nominated and who knows from there.

Egerton. Not only does he give a better performance than Malek, but he’s actually pretty good for a movie of this kind. Hell even this movie is better than most of it’s kind.
