Which buddy road movie do you prefer and which performances? I find Thunderbolt to be the more entertaining film but prefer the acting in Scarecrow

This is a great poll because they intersect in many ways - and they also point out why Oscar nominations are kinda BS since Hackman/Pacino are held in such esteem for Scarecrow and the only person nodded is Bridges (also excellent) in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.
Thunderbolt is definitely more entertaining but Scarecrow really pays off the 2nd time you see it when you know what's coming and you see the way all the pieces add up within it (The Wizard of Oz theme etc.). Scarecrow for me but both of them are a great example of why the 70s totally ruled - I mean on some level I can make a case that it's Hackman's best performance period and Pacino is such a revelation here (it's in my top 10 for him) you can actually picture him having an entirely different career as a quirky character actor who never picks up a gun - I mean those guys are really amazing together.

Scarecrow has the better performances (though not by much). Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is the better film.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is great, but it doesn't hit nearly as hard as Scarecrow.

T&L is a very amusing film but I prefer Scarecrow. Way better performances and a great ending.
