Another one I think will be sparking some discussion.
I know it’s really Pattinson’s story (and I’m somewhat infamous for placing Weisz Supporting for The Favourite), but I really don’t see how he can’t be seen as Leading. Mostly because they’re the only characters in the movie, but the two of them are practically equals, both in focus and how hard they command the screen. And talk about command, because when Dafos steps up for one of his glorious monologues, Pattinson pretty much turns the supporting player. To me, the push for Supporting is plain fraud.

He's as lead as the day is long. If Old Tom were Old Thomasina, we wouldn't even be having this debate. This is a Phoenix/Hoffman scenario all over again.

It really is the Phoenix/Hoffman scenario all over again ... in that I 100% see Dafoe as supporting and really don’t get the (popular) contrary view. Dafoe is far more borderline than Hoffman for me but it still is Winslow’s story and is entirely from his perspective. Dafoe’s a dominant supporting, but still supporting.

Is it official he will be considered for supporting, though?

I bumped him up to Leading, but I do think it’s borderline.

They're both Leading. Just bc Pattinson has a little more focus doesn't make Dafoe Supporting. Why does he have to be Supporting? Their screen times are about even and Dafoe has more dialogue anyway!
Joaquin/PSH I consider Leads in The Master but at least I see why some would consider PSH Supporting. Unlike Dafoe here...

Leading and Amazing. I mean, it's literally the two of them for the entire movie. Yes, there are a few shots of Pattinson alone doing stuff but that doesn't make Dafoe supporting at all. A very different situation than The Master for me where there're whole chunks without Hoffman.

so after finally watching this, firstly... wow. Secondly, he's a bottom. A power bottom no doubt but a bottom still the same. On a different day I might feel different because he does share so much screentime with RPatz, but it's Winslow's story. The story is framed around Winslow's POV and his haunted past. Everything we know about Wade, we only know it and see it from RPatz's perspective.
For the record, Adeal Hanael is supporting in Portrait of a Lady on Fire for exactly this same reason.
