In order of likelihood:
1. 1917 2. Ford v Ferrari 3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 4. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 5. Joker
With Ad Astra (I guess) looming on the horizon.

Star Wars Endgame Ad Astra Rocketman 1917
I guess Star Wars and Avengers will battle for the Oscar.

Star Wars Endgame Ad Astra Rocketman 1917 I guess Star Wars and Avengers will battle for the Oscar. I think the battle for the win is gonna be between "1917" and "Ford v Ferrari". The former is a prestige war contender (plus with a real-time gimmick this time) and the latter is a super showy car flick which also happens to be quite prestige-y. I don't think "Star Wars" will be taking this - they'll give it a nomination as usual but I have a feeling they don't rush to reward this particular franchise these days. Especially with such competition. And "Endgame" may get a nomination but the MCU flicks have done really poorly in this category over the years with only "Black Panther" getting in, and that was a BP nominee!

I totally forgot FvF tbh. Yes, it's gonna be a big contender. I'd change my votes but I can't decide which one to leave out...

Don't underestimate the power of Tom Hooper musicals.

Don't underestimate the power of Tom Hooper musicals. Well, there's only been one which was a big BP contender and had the whole live singing gimmick so I dunno if this is an entirely compelling case for "Cats"

Don't underestimate the power of Tom Hooper musicals. War films will always have the edge, though. Case in point: 2016, where a lot of people thought La La Land would sweep Sound Mixing, even though Hacksaw Ridge was very much a threat.
