Cage will play a janitor, forced to spend the night in a twisted amusement park where he is pulled into a living nightmare. As the threatening animatronic characters come to life, the janitor has to fight his way from one monster to another to survive until morning and get out of the park.
In other words . . . Five Nights at Freddy's with Nicolas Cage? IN.

I forgot about this because of the other Cage films that were announced. Just saw the first image and remembered that this movie existed.

I forgot about this because of the other Cage films that were announced. Just saw the first image and remembered that this movie existed. Lol! This sounds absolutely insane, and I'm totally in. Only thing that gives me pause is that the director is someone who's only made small independent films that don't appear so good. At least it sounds more intriguing then a random Cage VOD actioneer. At this point it's pretty easy to disguise what'll be a bad Cage film (a random revenge thriller), and a good / interesting cage (more experimental think Mandy, Color Out of The Space). Hopefully this is the later category, cause it sure sounds like it.

Well, I'm gonna take it upon myself to digitally replace the "i" with an "a" in every frame of this movie when it comes out.

Yeah, this looks like a Cage film. I know he's still got a semi-ironic cult following for his batshit hammy over acting tendencies, but I'm struggling to play along with the joke any longer.

Not very interested in Chuck E Cheese horror, but definitely into Cage's pinball Freddie Mercury moves. His character having zero dialogue is kinda lame thooo.

the only way you could get me to watch a soft Five Nights at Freddy's adaptation is to put Nic Cage in it.
Looks like a fun culty horror season romp. The kind of shit I only let myself enjoy in October. And unlike some (*ahem* Ma) this actually looks like it might be batshit and that's what a movie like this needs to be.

These hottakes about Cage are not new or fresh or original. In fact, they are almost routinely trotted out cliche at this point to those who wish the defend the poor quality of so much of his work for the last 15 years. I went along with it for awhile, but like I said, I can't play along with the joke any longer.

Come on, there's even shots taking place in the vents! Five Nights at Freddy's should definitely sue.

Love their mention of Cage-fav book The Way of the Actor (of course I have a copy) - it's an interesting book, makes unique connections to acting and stranger performative traditions but I love it most bc of its access to actors and interviews - you'll get a Dirk Bogarde breakdown right before interviews with Rip Torn, Liv Ullmann, etc. Lotta Brando discussion too. Jazz is right with Cage, but it's more than that too....there's nobody like him yes, but he isn't only flamboyant, he has underrated range and sensitivity across his work. I find the people who laugh at the mention of his name haven't seen all that many of his perfs and only have a shallow, rubberneck understanding of him. He is mad tho - I always get a kick outta his wack, amazing references and inspiration for projects - for Willy's it was Bronson in OUATIW and probably the silent era (since it's a dialogue-less role), and tapping again into the midnight screening crowd like with Mandy/Mom+Dad that he fed off. While it looks maybe fun, it also looks cheap and not very good, I'm hoping he teams with some better directors soon, which never hurts.
