One final complaint: I knew that it was a pipe dream for Paprika to get in for original song, but I did have hopes that this could sneak in: It's not original, though. I'm fairly sure I'd heard that song in some format on Keillor's show well before the movie. Ah, well that's different then. It's really hard to hunt down what is "original" sometimes. Btw, I watched Lucky Number Slevin tonight and despite the tonal inconsistency of the final act with the first two, it was a total blast. It's much more of a screwball comedy than I expected. This dialogue is brilliant: If the movie could keep that going for two hours (and until the final act stumbles, it does!), this would be a comedic masterpiece.

As always, I'm not a big fan of the results, but I'm glad that The Wind That Shakes The Barley made it in the Best Picture lineup.

Some thoughts: - Surprised by the lack of Dreamgirls (except for Eddie Murphy) - Poseidon should've gotten in for visual effects instead Children of Men. Say what you will about the film but the visual effects were pretty good. - Illusionist should've been there instead of Fountain in Cinematography. - I totally forgot that Brick exists. Glad it was nominated for screenplay. - Where's Abigail Breslin? Glad at least my girl Eva got in. - No Alan Arkin? - Penelope Cruz - Daniel Craig over Christian Bale, Will Smith and Toby Jones? - DiCaprio should've been nominated for Blood Diamond not for Departed. - Expected a directing nod for Gibson. - I like the film but this board got such a hard on for Casino Royale that you awarded actor and picture - Apocalypto and Letters from Iwo Jima were needed in that BP list. - At least The Prestige scored big. Overall this was such a mixed bag. Some pretty good and some awful inclusions.

Babel, Little Children and Volver deserve way more than they got. At least Dern and Lynch got in, that's all I care about

Was really digging this until the acting line-ups. Bit confused by the inclusion of Wahlberg and Whitaker which just felt like copying the Oscars when I felt that time had shown they were weaker nominees that year (and I say that as a fan of Wahlberg in the film, but Nicholson, Winstone, or even Baldwin deserved that love instead if we were to nominate someone from that film there).
That being said, Kirshner made it in Supp. Actress and the Lead Actor line-up (aside from Whitaker) is pretty bomb. Haven't seen Wind That Shakes the Barley, but apparently I should now.
Only real disappointment is the severe lack of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints which has been one of the most undervalued films of the entire decade it seems, and both Channing Tatum and Chazz Palminteri's finest hours. Seriously, everyone should see that film.
