Kirshner! All that mattered to me.
Surprised Breslin missed out though.

Laverty! No Paprika love anywhere? Not in editing, not in its music? Hoping for a lone director nod because REALLY, guys.

Streep? Streep and no Blunt? Streep is good, don't get me wrong. But Blunt is better in the same movie.

Rebecca Hall and Steve Carell? Very nice! Adapted screenplay category is also top-notch!

Sad neither Jackman nor Bale got in for The Prestige but still a really good lineup. And I did want Watanabe to get in but I figured that was a pipe dream.

If anyone is missing The Wind That Shakes the Barley, it is in 1080p right here:
Oh, the video got taken down less than a month after I last posted it. After it had been up for five years. Of course.

chafing a bit that Kikuchi somehow made it in here over Breslin, Somerville and Farmiga. Also not enough Marie Antoinette but that was to be expected I guess, but is it just me or was Miami Vice totally snubbed? Can't complain too much because there was a bit I wanted to see before voting and couldn't. October was a perfect storm of conflicting movie priorities. Mostly these are good. Children of Men, Casino Royale, Wind that Shakes the Barley...that's all I need

A shame that Hoffman is going to get nominated for playing Capote in 2005. Toby Jones outdoes him in every way in 2006 and got snubbed.

Babel got in for score? It's hard enough to even find an original piece in that film. The two known pieces are from Deadwood and The Last Emperor. Which piece from "The Last Emperor" was in "Babel"? I know that some Sakamoto pieces are used in "Babel" (and I certainly realize that it won its Oscar because voters probably thought that 'Bibo No Aozora' from the end of the movie was original) but I don't remember any of them being from that film.

One final complaint: I knew that it was a pipe dream for Paprika to get in for original song, but I did have hopes that this could sneak in:

That The Wind that Shakes the Barley BP nom is one of the best things I've seen come from the AMARAs. And it didn't even need my help! Well done, MAR.

One final complaint: I knew that it was a pipe dream for Paprika to get in for original song, but I did have hopes that this could sneak in: It's not original, though. I'm fairly sure I'd heard that song in some format on Keillor's show well before the movie.
