Do you think Pitt would be a worthy winner just based on his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? A lot of experts are predicting he will win supporting actor.

I'd rate him somewhere middle-of-the-pack or slightly lower in terms of the category's history this decade. He's fine, but certainly not Oscar-worthy.

I think he's a worthy winner as of now .......until I see The Irishman and then I'll just rant about how he's not as good as Pacino.
Um.

No
He's leading, and while rather good, I doubt by the end of the year his would be one of the 10 best leading or supporting male performances of the year.

Nope.
He's pretty good but, you know, he's not doing much. Wandering around, being cool showing his muscles... Up until the finale, where he's really funny and still cool and handsome and all.
I guess many others will have much better performances (Pacino, Pesci, Hopkins, Hanks, Dafoe) but atm he looks like the front runner (and it's about time for a win).
Oh, imo, he's clearly a supporting player in OUATIH.

I dunno... first of all he's leading. I like him in the movie but he's been better before and he'll win soon enough surely?
Meanwhile, Pacino is supporting and should've won 4 Oscars in the 70s alone so... yeah.

He boycotted the 1973 awards as he considered he was leading in the Godfather and he attended the 1974 ceremony but was high or drunk or something like that... Other than that, I dunno if he snobbed or attended the ceremonies.

I think I'm past the point where I'm rooting for actors based on performances and I'm just going to root for them based on their careers and how much I like and rate them. I think OUaTiH is one of Brad Pitt's 2 best performances (still need to watch Ad Astra) and I'm a fan of his career and a lot of the movies he's made. I'd like to see him win, but I'd also like to see Pacino win (without even having seen his performance). Perhaps Pitt slightly more than Pacino.
As for whether he'd be a worthy winner, strictly speaking, I think his is a Leading role so he shouldn't even in be in the category. But given his stature and career (and considering the fact that Oscars aren't just about the performances, even if they should be), I'd say he's worthy. For me.

It is a spectacular performance but I am merely thinking about his other "worthier" performances which didn't even get an Oscar nom. Ad Astra might be another

Yeah! He was my #1 pick for BA until I saw Phoenix and Pitt himself in Ad Astra.

That he is. He was hysterical in this. Plus I don’t think this is a case of category fraud so 🤷🏼♀️
