Easily the greatest Best Picture lineup of all time, right? I mean, which year compares? Perhaps my favorite film, ever...

I like all the films in that line-up (still haven't seen Nashville), but have to say that there are some line-ups I prefer. However "Jaws" is the best of the four I've seen. Second place to "Dog Day Afternoon".

I think '74 is the better year.........'75 is the most consistently great year since all 5 pictures are very good but '74 has 3 outright masterpieces, and my top 2 of all-time (Chinatown, The Conversation). When I put The Godfather Part II as my 3rd best of the year, that says a lot

Picking between the Altman and the Kubrick is a choice too tough to make. What a couple of fucking epics.

Shockingly great lineup with not a single 'Oscar movie' in sight.
I'm partial to '72 though and '73 gets really hardcore with both Cries and Whispers and The Exorcist in there. 74 is a classic one to.
These were basically the best 4 lineups in a row imo.
Oh, and to answer your question, Nashville! But Picnic at Hanging Rock is my favorite of the year.

Let's rank them!
1. Jaws 2. Barry Lyndon 3. Dog Day Afternoon 4. Nashville 5. One Flew...
The first three are stone-cold masterpieces, the fourth one is amazing and the fifth is excellent. Awesome lineup.

Picking between the Altman and the Kubrick is a choice too tough to make. What a couple of fucking epics. These would be my top two choices as well... My personal taste just automatically leans toward lavish British period pieces, though.

The greatest year for films yet, IMO. And yeah, easily the most perfect Best Picture lineup the Academy's ever chosen. I'd rank them:
1. Nashville 2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 3. Barry Lyndon 4. Dog Day Afternoon 5. Jaws
#1-3 are masterpieces, #4-5 are great.

Without a doubt the best lineup of all-time and all five are some degree of masterful.
