Gosling but it's pretty close actually.....I'm not sure what Christian Bale has to do to convince people how special he is but he's underrated around these parts.
He's got a bunch of genuinely great performances, he shows greater commitment to roles physically than anyone post-DeNiro - he's pulled off comedic roles too.......when he wins a BA Oscar (not that, that matters but just sayin') he will become the only Brit with 2 Oscars where at least one is for lead ............except Daniel Day-Lewis ever
I mean......the dude is major......

I think Bale may have more range but Gosling is the more watchable actor for me. He's still compelling to watch even in subdued roles.

Gosling for talent. Bale's superb in O. Russell movies, and good in McKay movies, but I find him very erratic otherwise. And he lacks leading man charisma.
Filmography, Bale. Gosling's only top shelf film so far IMO is First Man, whereas Bale has been in an actual masterpiece (The New World), and a number other strong films (TDK, 3:10 to Yuma, The Prestige, Empire of the Sun, etc.). I think Gosling could overtake him, though, as Bale does an awful lot of misbegotten crap.

Going with Gosling across the board quite easily. I find him to be a much more effortless, charming and entertaining presence to watch.

Bale.I really don't understand why Bale isn't super-rated by some on this forum, but those same people consider Daniel Day-Lewis a God.
They are pretty much the same fucking film actor, except Bale works regularly, so can't create the illusion of never having so-so performances. DDL wouldn't have done any better in Terminator Salvation either. Bale is DDL if he worked regularly and didn't just pop up to do period Oscarbait. DDL has more natural presence and charisma, but these are fine margins. But Vice and The Fighter are the kind of measured, technically adept, perdonality submerging performances Day-Lewis specialises in
Bale is the most technically adept/gifted film actor of his generation. More than DiCaprio. More than Phoenix. That doesn't make him "better", but it should be noted.

Two of my current favourites for sure.
Bale for talent. Gosling for filmography. Looks...if I consider them at their best then Bale for sure.

To me Gosling is one of the most watchable and entertaining screen presences ever, as well as a frequently much more layered performer than a lot of people give him credit for. Bale's alright.

Gosling across the board without a doubt, and I actually quite like Bale.

Just in terms of talent, Gosling by a country mile. Bale is a shtick-whore who rarely hits the bullseye.

My favourite actor of all time. So many great performances and movies.
I’m a fan of Bale too though.

Without question Bale for both acting and filmography

Love me some Bale but Gosling wins for now . Bale tends to overdo it at times (definitely guilty of over acting in a good amount of his stuff).
Gosling, to this day(imo), gave us the coolest film character of the decade in Drive and for that I am forever grateful.
Plus Gosling seems to pick more interesting projects.

If you were only reading the messages you would think that Gosling was confortably winning the poll but...
Gosling for me too but it's time for another knockout performance from him tho.

Bale x3. Especially in the acting department, Bale is one of the best actors currently working while Gosling has yet to stretch his acting ability.

Gosling is the better actor for me.
As for filmography it's pretty close. Bale has more films I'd label as great or at least good, but also much more weak movies.

Love Ryan but it's gotta be Christian for everything

Well Christian is older and started in films earlier and with Spielberg and is more prolific, so easily Bale wins here in filmography. I consider his 80s and 90s TV and Film Career Gems. While Gosling early career is forgettable at best.-
In talent, Bale is older and charming, and usually at least OK. While Gosling highs are higher, he had very bad performance in awful movies. So right now Bale, but this will change soon.
Handsome. Bale had the perfect face, but Gosling had the perfect body and is younger so Gosling.-
