Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando hated each other's guts while shooting Guys and Dolls but their on screen chemistry was fantastic. I think Brando wanted Sinatra's part nut didn't get it.

Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins never appear again together post Silence of the lambs or after winning the Oscar, some people said they hate each other. Even in the DVD special Features, Hopkins was not participate in it.. To avoid Jodie? Still mysterious how they never play together again after Silence! the same thing happens to Leo and Blanchette... still remember that golden globe awkward encounter? What's the tea on that? I always felt like they had poor chemistry in The Aviator, and is the only female co-star he's had weak chemistry with.

Veronica Lake in 1941/1942 THE sexiest woman in Hollywood history at around 20 before alcoholism ate her up - pretty much hated and was hated by her famous co-stars, Frederic March in I Married A Witch and Joel McCrea in Sullivan's Travels. But their chemistry is GREAT: Here in Sullivan's Travels is Lake, buying McCrea breakfast (awesome), saying he doesn't have to even pay her back (AWESOME), and giving HIM a cigarette. Talk about meeting cute.........swoon.

Oh honey, one of the rare co-stars Lana didn't sleep with.... and I'm sure Garfield must have found her an airhead.

This is one of the most famous examples for me that hasn't been mentioned yet. Also I guess Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey didn't get along that well on Dirty Dancing, but I think it's more of a case that they weren't friends not that they hated each other like Gere and Winger did. I don't know about great chemistry, but Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are rumored to dislike each other. Although they still have stans that ship them together?!? Television Stars That Didn't Get Along or Allegedly Didn't Get Along: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson - I think they were like real people in that they did get along sometimes, but not all the time. Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson - I don't know their names came up when I was trying to find more examples. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic - I've heard various things about why they hated each other, but I think it comes down to Fillion's ego since it doesn't seem like he can take a costar eclipsing him in anyway. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall - I never would have believed that they hated each just by watching the show. Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi - I can't believe they couldn't be professional enough to film together on the last episode. Same with Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette; although, I initially took her side because of the dog incident, as more information has come out, it seems like she needs a lot of help.

Surprised no one has mentioned Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca, probably the best known example of this.

Apparently that was a case of them not getting along on the set of Red Dawn prior, and thus being reluctant to work together again. Swayze actually had to convince Grey to take the role of Baby, and it turned out to be the right thing, because they made-up while making that movie, and became good friends after.

All those click bait articles I "researched" turned out to be wrong about that then, lol.

Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren famously hated each other's guts while working on El Cid. I think Heston was pressed Loren was being paid more. Later Heston said he regretted his behavior towards Loren on-set, calling it unprofessional and unfair. in a 2014 Variety interview with Loren: I think that says it all!

Hoffman and Streep in Kramer vs. Kramer. Hoffman looks like a kind of person who would not embarrass or harass his lady co-star. Lange was fine with him during Tootsie and She even made a joke about him during her Oscar speech. I think Meryl was being ego-centric acting bitch and didn't understand Hoffman's jokes at the time. Why she could tolerate Weinstein and hid the secret is still a mystery.
Oh honey, some of my best friends are ego-centric acting bitches... It's what makes this industry so great!
Do you think I could get away with behaving like this anywhere else?

You would think many of his female co-stars didn't have a great time while filming...

Anthony always praises her and I saw where Jodie said she adores him. They were just scared of each other during filming, so they didn't say much until the very end when they both admitted to each other that they were scared of each other. lol.

With regards to Hoffman and Streep, Hoffman slapped her face before a scene. I don't know if this is true because Streep said it and then later downplayed it, but there was a rumor that when they first met he got drunk and grabbed her breasts or something. Hoffman was notoriously difficult during that time. And I watched a documentary about the making of Kramer vs Kramer and Hoffman admitted that he was bothered that Streep was outshining him in that restaurant scene, so that's why he threw something. So it sounds to me like he was an egotistical dick to her during that movie. Great actor, nonetheless. A TV one: Yes, this to me is a classic example of what this thread is all about.

Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet.
