One of the more diverse character actors out there. Can do drama. Comedy. Leading roles. Supporting roles and has already worked with some big names both directors and actors alike. For me in no particular order.
Wes Anderson Paul Thomas Anderson Christopher Nolan Alexander Payne Jordan Peele Woody Allen Taika Waititi Guillermo Del Toro David Lynch Spike Jonze
Would like to see him work with Scorsese again in a leading role and the Coen Brothers(really fits their sensibilities).

He's a fine actor but I don't really care about him. Not at the moment anyway.
So I guess I'd be hyped only if he worked with directors whose work excite me no matter the cast. Allen, Fincher, Spielberg, QT, Coens, Mann, Nolan...
Actually, I believe he'd really fit in a Woody Allen film. Yeah, I'd like to see that.

Hmm didn’t think about that, but in retrospect he does seem like an unusual lead performer which would fit Cronenberg’s usual leads like Mortensen, Goldblum, Woods, Weller, Irons, etc. I’ve been a little underwhelmed lately by Cronenberg, but that does sound interesting. That being said.....has he retired?

Cronenberg? He’s talked about maybe doing a tv show but then the latest I heard of him was him saying that he wouldn’t mind if all cinema suddenly disappeared...

Spike Jonze seems like a perfect fit to me.

I just don't get the hype about this guy and am sorta baffled as to why so many top notch directors are lining up to work with him. He certainly has one of (if not) the best Hollywood agent working for him I'd say lol.

I was just reading his Rolling Stone interview and when you read how he talks he kind of reminds me as an actor version of Kenneth Lonergan - they could be a perfect logical team-up, theater guys who could work well in the movies. Lonergan could really write something special for him I bet....

After watching The Report, I'd love to see him in an Aaron Sorkin scripted film.

I have to admit I'm nervous about this project because it could go really bad given the subject matter, but I trust that Driver knows what he's doing and also that Nicole Holofcener's involvement won't make it seem like the wife is just a bystander in her own story.

Interesting question because this project on paper has a "what were they thinking?" kind of feel to it and to me Ridley Scott can seem shaky recently but he's taken modern actors into this territory before and well (right from the start in The Duellists) so I'm thinking these creative people can see the pitfalls going in. It seems odd in Driver's case because it feels like he fell into the project rather than something he controlled but I don't really know that .......

If he does an English-language film again, Bong Joon-Ho.
