With the spooky season right around the corner, the most wonderful time of year, I was curious how you guys feel about this.
I've never had a personal experience with anything supernatural - my mom has, several fairly frightening experiences as a kid, and given that she is one of the most honest people I've ever met + her generally skeptical family fully backing up her accounts of what she saw...such as them confirming her freaking out as a kid after seeing a vision of a skull outside her window two nights before their neighbor killed his wife and then hung himself (scary as fuck, man)...I'm inclined to believe her. I'm primarily agnostic in my spiritual beliefs, and so am completely open to the possibility that I'm wrong, but yeah, I definitely lean towards believing in this sort of thing.
You?

I'm Christian so I believe in the supernatural, whether that technically includes ghosts who's to say.

It's interesting thinking about how ghosts figure in when in the context of Christianity - kind of depends on how you view angels and especially human souls, and whether or not you believe God has made it where they can visit or traverse the world they've departed.

I’m not really a god believer, but I am fascinated by the supernatural, and I like to think of there being some afterlife. I just view it in a more subtle, abstract fashion.
If not retaining our consciousness when we were alive, mayhaps something in our life force persists, and continues to live on. Maybe as energy, or as guiding voices (hence visions or inspiration), or sometimes that energy can result in the occasional freaky stuff, and could negatively affect living individuals. I just don’t see it in such an extreme fashion, similar to life being on other planets. I like to think that something exists out there, but I doubt it’s anything as fantastical as Asari and Quarians.
Im a weird atheist.

I'm an agnostic who is open to the idea of another dimension, but... I don't think those beings would waste their time here.
I'm also a firm believer in alien life, but... they also wouldn't waste their time here probing people's assholes (until an actual take-over, which is unlikely for the next several millennia). I know aliens weren't on the docket, but they are in the same ballpark as far as skepticism is concerned.

The only thing I feel definitely about what comes after death, our existence, what forces shape these things and so on, is that it’s completely incomprehensible to the human mind. I see no reason to believe that we’re capable of figuring out much of anything about that stuff, we’re hardly that significantly evolved from monkeys. As I said, I lean towards believing in things like specters, but why/how they’re there I don’t think we could possibly understand.

It’s almost absurd to me to consider not believing in some kind of intelligent alien life, the universe is unfathomably enormous. But yeah, I’d agree on the kidnapping and subsequent anus probing scenarios probably not being as much a realistic threat as some people fear.

I don't believe in ghosts but I'd like Werewolves to be real.

I'm open to the possibility. I actually find the idea pretty fascinating.

The idea is neat and inherently dramatic (and pretty optimistic, to confirm life after death), but I don't actually believe in ghosts.

I'd need to see one before I believe they're real.

Personally I'm with LaraQ in that I believe what I see, but I wouldn't be adamant about them not being a thing in some way or another. I know both my mother on more than a few occasions and my older sister on a couple of occasions, said they saw and experienced some unexplainable things in the house I grew up in, but I had nada from my own perspective. So no I don't believe in them I guess.

100% non-believer. Dead people are just worm food until I have reason to believe otherwise.

All I’ll say is that the human brain is highly susceptible to hallucination.

Ghosts don't exist. Just old men in masks trying to scare meddling kids off from abandoned amusement parks or salt-mines.

As real as anything else people think is "real".

I don't really "believe" in anything spiritual or supernatural in the traditional sense -- that said, I'm inherently fascinated by such concepts on a purely mythological basis, specifically ghosts/spirits/etc. and visions of the afterlife, and often that fascination finds its way into a lot of my writing. In some sense I do believe in them ... at the very least I think the existence of ghosts in the nonliteral sense is incredibly potent, which in a way kinda confirms their "existence" for me ... if that makes sense? I mostly have very abstract thoughts on the matter...

I'm an agnostic, but I have an open mind for the existence of mystical elements in the universe (god, this sound so hippie... sorry). I do believe that there's more than what meets the eye, and that there could be some cosmic force of nature... In fact *sighs*, I have seen a ghost, the ghost of my late great-aunt a few months after she passed away of cancer. There probably isn't an explanation, and that's okay. I'm not one that seeks answers for everything.
