Seemed too quiet around the fact De Niro almost won an Emmy! Love the State of the Union wins, a fine well-acted little movie! And um... Whitford over Nanjiani? hmm

Luke Kirby is terrific in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and especially in the second season. Very cool pick!

There's a new interview of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau with Jimmy Kimmel and my god, he's the most gorgeous actor in the world. So handsome !
Anyway, guys.. any chance he and Emilia win in their categories? That'd be the best.

He's already won like 100 times before. And talking of stupid, how I hate Killing Eve S1😕

And talking of stupid, how I hate Killing Eve S1😕 Yeah, what's most annoying about Dinklage winning is that he will now hold the outright record for most wins in that category, moving clear of Aaron Paul, Don Knotts and Art Carney. Hopefully Paul can win next year for Westworld and be equal first.

Doing predictions seems like it'd be too masochistic an exercise, so I'll just do my rankings from categories where I've seen a notable amount of stuff because I'm bored Outstanding Comedy Series1. Fleabag 2. Veep 3. Russian Doll 4. The Good Place Outstanding Drama Series1. Better Call Saul - The only great one here. 2. Bodyguard - the fact I have this second makes me sad for this lineup. 3. Succession - this should be in comedy 4. Killing Eve - ridiculous dropoff from season 1. Tempting to put GOT over it. 5. Game of Thrones Outstanding Limited Series1. Chernobyl 2. Fosse/Verdon 3. Escape at Dannemora 4. When They See Us 5. Sharp Objects ^first outstanding, second a blast, third gets good at the half way mark. last two suck.Outstanding Television Movie1. Deadwood: The Movie 2. Brexit: The Uncivil War 3. King Lear 4. Bandersnatch Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series1. Phoebe Waller-Bridge 2. Julia Louis-Dreyfus 3. Natasha Lyonne These three are all so fucking good, and would be all be incredible winners. Happy that JLD's farewell win will actually be a deserved win unlike so many of those.Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie1. Jared Harris 2. Sam Rockwell 3. Hugh Grant 4. Mahershala Ali 5. Benicio Del Toro 6. Jharrel Jerome This lineup is fucking incredible, and if/when Jerome wins it will be a bigger joke than the characterization of all the white people on that show.Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie1. Joey King 2. Michelle Williams 3. Amy Adams 4. Fuck all of the other nominees. King and Williams are both awesome, and would both be such good winners. I haven't liked Adams in anything for ages as much as I did in this. I thought Arquette was embarrassing on this thing, and this will be worse than her Oscar win. All the sad mothers in When They See Us have just blurred together in my mind. I couldn't tell you a single memorable scene any of them had.Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series1. Sian Clifford 2. Olivia Colman 3. Betty Gilpin 4. Anna Chlumsky Clifford and Colman are awesome, the most memorable thing I can remember Gilpin doing is being naked in the shower, and I have no idea why or how Chlumsky keeps getting nominated, she was barely even in this season, was she? That's Clea Duvall's nomination.Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series1. Jonathan Banks 2. Giancarlo Esposito 3. I'm not even going to rank the Game of Thrones guys. All of their nominations are embarrassing. Terrible lineup, even those top two gods of previous years were hardly outstanding this time around. Maybe I should watch that last season of House of Cards Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series1. Fiona Shaw 2. What I said about Game of Thrones supporting actors goes for the supporting actresses, though I guess Christie and Williams were half decent. They'd be 2 and 3. Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie1. John Leguizamo 2. Michael K. Williams 3. Ben Whishaw 4. Stellan Skarsgard 5. Paul Dano 6. Asante Blackk Decent lineup from top to bottom without any blowaway noms for me. I think Leguizamo and Williams were the only really memorable performers in that show. I don't even remember anything about Asante Blackk.Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie1. Patricia Arquette 2. Emily Watson 3. LMAO If Arquette's other nomination is one of my least favourite nominated, this one is one of my favourites. She was career best awesome here, and this is the one she should win for. Watson was really good too, I'm not really sure why Qualley was nominated, Clarkson has Scanlen's nom, Marsha Stephanie Blake is I guess another of the sad moms club? I really remember nothing about any of them. Vera Farmiga's performance was awful. Total misjudgement, and maybe the low point of the whole show, and that's saying something.Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series1. The Handmaid's Tale, Holly 2. Game of Thrones, The Long Night 3. Killing Eve, Desperate Times 4. Game of Thrones, The Iron Throne 5. Game of Thrones, The Last of the Starks 6. Succession, Celebration Hope Daina Reed wins, it's the only really good one of these from what I've seen. I think The Long Night had some amazing work, the recreation of the Jurassic Park kitchen scene in the library, the wordless final stretch was incredible, but it's hard to get past the fucking gloom. I have no recollection of Desperate Times, and the others all suck.Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special1. Chernobyl 2. A Very English Scandal 3. When They See Us 4. Fosse/Verdon: Who's Got the Pain 5. Fosse/Verdon: Glory Unlike the drama one, this is a badass lineup. I hated the first three episodes of When They See Us, but the sort of haunted quality of that last episode earns Ava this nomination all by itself. Chernobyl was just one of the best things I've seen on television in a while, A Very English Scandal is maybe as into Frears as I have ever been, it was just perfectly made and so hilariously unique. The two F/V noms are fine. The first meeting in Who's Got the Pain is to die for.Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series1. Fleabag, Episode 1 2. The Good Place, Janet(s) 3. Veep, Veep 4. Russian Doll, A Warm Body 5. Russian Doll, Nothing in This World is Easy Russian Doll noms are underwhelming for me, the other three are all awesome.Outstanding Writing for a Drama SeriesBetter Call Saul, Winner The Handmaid's Tale, Holly Bodyguard, Episode 1 Succession, Nobody is Ever Missing Killing Eve, Nice and Neat Game of Thrones, The Iron Throne First two are both AWESOME, I really hope so much that one of them wins. I really don't remember which episode Nice and Neat is, but everything about season 2(except Comer) underwhelmed me so much I'll put it down there. Bodyguard to me deserved a directing nom for that episode more than a writing one, the Succession writing and directing noms should both have gone to 'Which Side Are You On?', and obviously The Iron Throne getting nominated for a writing award is so funny you don't even need to make jokes.Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special1. Chernobyl 2. A Very English Scandal 3. Escape at Dannemora, part 6 4. When They See Us, part 4 5. Fosse/Verdon, Providence 6. Escape at Dannemora, part 7 Good lineup! Not sure I agree with the singling out of that Fosse/Verdon episode, I think Who's Got the Pain would be much more worthy, but it was good, Dannemora part 6 was probably the highlight of the show save for Arquette's performance in it, A Very English Scandal blends comedy and dark drama like a fucking dream.

Jhareel Jerome wins Best Actor, Limited Series. Wow. He beat out Mahershala and Rockwell. Jerome was good but really not on the level of Rockwell (really wanted him to win) - or Hugh Grant.
