So there have been five Batman actors on the big screen so far, and there is another one coming up.
I still think that Keaton has so far been the best Batman but not an enough compelling Wayne. Bale has been the best Wayne, imo, but as Batman he probably lacked the mystery of the superhero, the creepiness, the darkness. Val Kilmer was probably the best one on paper but it never really translated to the screen. Clooney and Affleck
And what do you think about Pattinson as the new Batman?

Ben Affleck was very decent (to my surprise) and Bale arguably the best, as Batman and Wayne.
But my vote goes to Keaton. In my mind, he's the best Batman, he made the best Batman movies and overall he's the best actor of the list (yes, better even than Bale).

I don't see the appeal of Keaton in general much or in the role - he's fine but........the films have aged very badly imo, I don't have fond memories of my misspent youth with them like a lot of people seem to have.
The Nolan films obliterate them (imo) and Bale is in those films and he is the great beneficiary of that so.....

Ben Affleck is, for my money, the only time I have ever been convinced by a live-action Batman. He didn't have the proper material behind him (although I consider the post-apocalyptic Gotham: Fury Road scene in Batman v. Superman to be one of my favorite Batman-related scenes ever), but he had the presence and the gravitas. Keaton runs a close second, but I still don't quite buy him as the Caped Crusader (and I still maintain he would've been a better Joker).

As I said in another thread Keaton is the only one I've found credible as someone disturbed enough to spend his evenings running around in black fetishwear beating up criminals. Bale just came off as mopey and sad but seemed like a pretty well adjusted and normal person. In general Bale's movies win (I would say TDK>Batman Returns>Batman Begins/TDKR>Batman 89) but Keaton is the best Batman. Oldman and the villains were always the best performances in the Nolan/Bale movies. I like that in the Burton/Keaton movies you get the sense that in his own way Batman is almost as screwed up as the Joker and Catwoman.

Bale is the best Batman if we're talking performances, whether he fits the character of Wayne/Batman or not I'm not sure as I've not read any of the comics (but will hopefully be changing that soon).
As for the films, I prefer the Keaton ones myself, though I really enjoy all of them except the Affleck/Clooney ones. Grew up watching Batman Forever a lot and think Kilmer wasn't given his fair due as Wayne as I think if the film had been more on par with Burton's films, he could have been the best Wayne yet.

By far Keaton for me. I guess it's in part that he seems to talk less, and when he does it's in this sort of hushed whisper type of thing. He was downright unsettling whenever I used to watch those movies as a kid, especially the first one. When he takes Basinger to the batcave I remember the feelings of dread for her I used to get. For this grown man dressed up as a bat, this vigilante working outside of the law, I think it's the perfect performance. He's not particularly interesting outside of the suit, but neither is anybody else.

Another small thing to note is that Bale's batvoice is stupid. I've gotten used to it from the number of times I've seen TDK but it used to always make me laugh. Keaton sounded like he was disguising his voice without sounding like a prank phone call.

Affleck. I don't really care at all about any comic book character but when I was a kid I enjoyed reading some comics and watching cartoons, and he was the closest to how I felt Batman was in those.

Easily Keaton for live action, but I'll go ahead and add the obligatory Kevin Conroy shout-out.

Haven't seen Affleck.
Of the rest I'll still go with Keaton.

None of these guys. Batman has always been the least interesting character no matter how talented the actors were. I've always preferred the antagonists.

Out of curiosity, have you ever played Telltale Batman? I agree with you, but Telltale offered the most interesting interpretation of the character imo.

Nope, I've never played that game (it's a game, isn't it?). Thanks for the tip, though.

Nope, I've never played that game (it's a game, isn't it?). Thanks for the tip, though. Yeah, it is. The game stumbles a little bit in the final chapter, but its interpretation of Bruce Wayne as someone having to grapple with his legacy and what he represents (both as Batman the vigilante and as Bruce Wayne the billionaire) is a great way to mold an old story into a dynamic new tale. The writers parallel him to the three villains (and side characters like Selena and Alfred), who each have arcs that mirror his own, each giving commentary on a different facet of Bruce's character. And it's just plain fun.

Bale, pretty easily. Other than the over-the-top voice (which I don't even mind that much) I liked pretty much everything about his Batman and I really liked him as Bruce Wayne. Keaton I never found to be that memorable. Affleck's performance was pretty good but I didn't like how that Batman was written.

Will Arnett
But of these, god, I don’t know. Some are better at playing Bruce than Bats, and vice versa. Affleck was pretty good as both, but was still hindered by them going against Batman’s philosophy of not killing. Bale was a killer Bruce, but as Batman, yeah, the voice does get indulgent by the end.
Gun to my head, Affleck, which was one of the ONLY good things BVS had going for it.
