Just over a year on, how did you find his performance? The thing with Cooper for me is while I do find him good and effective, his performances seem to miss something that takes it to that next level. I do think this is one of his best though and his singing was really good. I wouldn't put it in the same class as Duvall in Tender Mercies or Bridges in Crazy Heart who were so effortless.

He's an actor I struggle with in general, as he is generally fine, but rarely better than that. I don't think A Star is Born changed that, but he was the best thing about that film. I really wish he hadn't mumbled so much though.

He barely makes my yearly top 10, buth he was quite good, and he deserved BA given how dire the category was last year.

Best performance Cooper has ever given. He's not my personal winner (that would be Dafoe), but I thought he was worthy of the nomination at least (can't say the same about his other nominations).

Cooper has always been a huge try hard actor imo (how this dude has like 4 Oscar noms is beyond me ) and his performance in A Star Is Born was no exception. His Sam Elliot impression in A Star is Born just didn't work for me here and at times I had to roll my eyes at it.

His best performance to date. While he was not my favorite, he'd make a much more worthy winner than Malek.
