It's got great direction. The acting is solid and Emil Jannings's performance will probably stay in my head for a while. Great cinematography and the visual effects are wickedly good for the time. I've only seen 11 films from the 1920s but this one's the best. About to watch Cabinet of Dr. Caligari now though so maybe that changes.
