Oh honeys, is he good in bed? I have no idea... Why are you asking me these questions?

No. He was in the running in the mid 2000s, but pretty much squandered this decade. I'll give him the awesome processing scene in The Master (though nothing else in that movie from him was good acting), but so much of his acting lately has been this sort of generic, inexpressive mumbliness. His acting earlier in his career balanced his daemonic intensity with a sense of control and craft (Buffalo Soldiers, Gladiator, Walk the Line, Two Lovers), but I feel like he's completely lost that balance. I haven't truly loved a Joaquin performance since Two Lovers. The Joaquin that went toe-to-toe with Richard Harris and an iconic Crowe seems completely gone.
I really dislike plenty of recent DiCaprio films (Gatsby, Revenant, Django, OUATIH), but I even tend to like his performance in films I think are lousy. Joaquin in a turkey like Inherent Vice is just wallpaper. Frankly, Joaquin's highs aren't high enough, and he's too inconsistent to be taken seriously against someone like DiCaprio. Film twitter et al. will always conveniently cape for him when possible, but it's because DiCaprio is a tabloid fixture and doesn't work with scrub indie directors on the 0.002% chance that they'll pull off an L.A. Confidential (and that's insulting to Curtis Hanson). Joaquin's immense talent is offset by his lackadaisical attitude, which seems more human and thus more laudable to those with small mentalities.
