When those dirty commies you love so much die, I'm gonna laugh my head off. Yup I wouldn't be too quick to celebrate someone's passing when the Sweet Embrace Of Death should be coming for Bernie Sanders relatively soon. I don't think people know what they're talking about - Koch gave a lot of money to a lot of things and it can be spun this way or that way but you know, did you ever go to the Koch Theater at Lincoln Center? You can't really spin the Koch Theater at Lincoln Center - that's just a beautiful theater for the Arts - by a guy who (gasp!) had the money to do something beautiful too ................ you don't see those guys in Che T-shirts plotting the downfall of capitalism over rice and beans doing that.

Not any sarcasm at all - none.
In fact, I'd go even further, and say I much prefer celebrating the life of those few that I truly love rather than taking any happiness from David Koch's death - the people I love whose time on Earth might be extended or made more comfortable in their remaining time here by how much money the Koch brothers have given to cancer research and medical research.
Now, you may balk and that's your right, but I wouldn't call you naive (or even care if you were) just as long as you get my point - taking happiness in the death of (most) others is not a good game to play .........I've already offered you reasons why specifically in this case it's really not.

Well first off: It’s strange that the first name that comes to your mind when you hear the word commie is Bernie Sanders? He’s a social democrat. Which is in no way comparable to a communist. You brush over all the horrible shit David has done with a statement of “it can be spun different ways” then go on to essentially say that his legacy is building a beautiful theatre? As if that’s had more of an impact on society than spending billions on blocking responses to climate change and campaigning to get rid of social security and public schools as well as fighting against medicare for all, all of which he spent millions and millions of dollars on. When they gave money to organizations for ‘good causes’, it was self serving to help increase their profits. The NCRP even said this. David Koch didn’t even try to hide it. David Koch also blackmailed his older brother, Frederick (who was gay) along with Charles and Bill in order to relinquish his claim to a share of the families company. As you can probably guess, they threatened to expose his private life to their dad if he didn’t do so. I can’t be bothered to talk about all the other stuff in regards to his terrible legacy. I’m not arguing in support of people lauding his death. I’m arguing that he was a shitty person that left behind a horrible legacy that negatively impacted society.

Just to be clear - I picked Sanders because isn't he the anti-Koch? Love Koch or hate him - he's a far more important a political figure despite having not held office than Sanders ever will be at least until we see the winning influence from Sanders 2016 campaign but for now he's not........ I don't wish Sanders death either but again not strange that I'd pick him - it's perfectly logical to pick him really.
If I was in the arguing mood I'd say he's a social democrat in the way that people like to label themselves but he never did sh it with his own money like David Koch did - and linking him with Communists isn't quite a stretch when he is shirtless singing with Russians - I'm being a little mean but come on, it's not a "stretch".
I'm not in the arguing mood though so I'll say "if David Koch literally hated the Arts (he didn't) and loved Cancer (he obviously didn't) and blackmailed his brother (while openly supporting gay marriage btw) the jokes really on him because he did a lot of good for at least the Arts and Medicine - tens of millions of dollars (more?) good.
"Building a beautiful theater" to describe just ONE of the things he did is as wrong - as (mis)labeling Sanders a Communist actually......and that's all I'm saying........ his motives be damned......I am quite sure there's plenty I'd disagree with David Koch on actually - I lean left far more than him.......but the reaction to his death is a Twitter event and attempt to make a complicated guy much more of a simple object of scorn than a logical, comprehensive assessment of his life and philanthropy.

The guy went on his honeymoon to the Soviet Union and praised it. He lived in a commune until he was kicked out for contributing nothing. In the Democratic Socialism manifesto of which he's the head he talks about he's unable to give the means of production to the workers implying he wants to give it to them but you're stupid enough to believe he's just a social democrat.

We’ve had this exact same argument before with you using those exact same points on previous threads. I’m not going to go out of my way for finding links on all his positions and voting records for you again since you’re clearly headstrong on this talking point. You calling him a communist just goes to show how strong his policies are since you have to start mislabeling him and disregarding ALLL of his policies because it’s an easy attack. How about you go on his policy page, look at all of his policies, and point out the ones to me which show that he’s a communist. Rather than creating a conspiracy that he’s pretending to be more right wing than he actually is.

Far more important political figure? No no. Powerful? Yes. Not more important though. Bernie was called the amendment king for a reason. He got Amazon to raise their workers wages after that “horrible” bill he created with Ro Khanna. Disney too. Lots of his talking points from 2016 have been used during the 2020 race by other candidates. Medicare for all being the biggest one. Look at the number of justice democrats that won their seats. He’s the main reason people are having discussions in regards to progressive policies, which are all popular amongst the American people. That is a stretch, lol. Like I said to Dexter. Go one by one on all of his 2020 policies and come back to me on why he’s a communist rather than creating this conspiracy. I hope to god that the person that's worth 50 billion can do more with their money than a guy that’s worth 2 million lmao. He still propped up many candidates with millions of dollars whom were against LGBTQ communities. Even if he said he was for gay marriage, it just goes to show how cutthroat he was for profit. Remember, this was back in the 60’s/70’s when he blackmailed his brother. I didn’t say that building a theatre was the one thing he did. That’s the only thing you listed about him in your first post. Leading me to think that you believe that was the main part of his legacy. Since you decided to use that as your first and only argument in that post. Thanks for admitting that labelling Bernie as a communist is wrong though. He does leave behind a bit of a complicated legacy (mostly due to cancer research, which I admittedly need to know more about). While saying that, the bad far outweigh the good though. For the reasons I listed, as well as trying to abolish Medicare and Medicaid and essentially trying to shut down the EPA.

It's called him being a politician and realising what he actually wants won't be popular in America so he pulls back. He was an outspoken ally for LGBTQ community in the 70’s, when it was unpopular. He was for Medicare for all in the 90’s, when it was unpopular. He spoke out against NAFTA in the 90’s, when it was unpopular. He spoke against the Iraq war, when it was unpopular. He’s been talking about income inequality since the 70’s. He spoke out against laws that prohibit abortions and birth control measures since the 70’s. Seems like he could give two fucks what’s popular. It’s clear the policies he talks about today are ones that he cares about. The majority of American people caught up to the majority of his beliefs, not the other way around. Keep smearing him without communist rhetoric though which clearly can be debunked with 10 minutes of research.
