If anyone has been following the way recent stories have broken it's clear either race or the economy will spin the election - every issue lately is refracted through these 2 points.........to me anyway. Do you think 2020 will come down to one of these or is something out there "bigger" than these two (abortion, SCOTUS, healthcare, guns).
Try to keep it to the one biggest issue - obviously it's a mix of all at a deeper level.

The economy is a difficult issue politically right now given that a recession is almost guaranteed to happen within the next two years and Trump kinda acknowledged that with his tweet about the inverted yield curve. Does he trumpet the short-term strength of the economy, assuming that voters don't or won't know enough to care about or even listen to the facts regarding its longer-term prospects? Does he acknowledge the eventual recession but blame it all on Powell, hoping that the Dems or again the voters won't care much about the fact that he was the one to nominate him? Do the Dems play up doomsaying over the economy and run a platform of "we'll weather the incoming storm better" to voters who, as of yet, aren't experiencing any additional economic misfortune? Do the Dems focus on the trade war, another pretty complicated issue where Trump's easy (stupid) response will simply be, "I'll win, don't worry about it?"

hahaha yes i am sure climatologists have never known about the warming periods! oh yeah, 100 companies being responsible for 70% of pollution is probably all the more reason i would rather see a crash than anything. unfortunately, crashes tend to hurt the people who aren't responsible for them though

You're joking, but I think the election will be a referendum on Trump's personality cult more than anything else. All of that is racially tinged too so I guess you could say black and white is the answer. His approvals remain mediocre in the low 40's despite good economic numbers.
