I've been meaning to do this one for a while and it was mentioned in the previous thread so lets get to it. I think some people do prefer Temple of Doom out of the foursome, but I think they are the minority, with Raiders and Crusade being the generally loved twosome. I personally think Temple is pretty crappy, and would rather watch Crystal Skull any day of the week. I do think Raiders and Crusade are the more comparable films out of the four anyway.
So on to my opinion on Raiders vs Crusade. I personally prefer Last Crusade. Both of the films are excellent, but if I'm in the mood for some Indy, I find I'll always go to Crusade. I just find that everything I love about Raiders, I love that little bit more about Last Crusade. Then you add Sean Connery and a top notch femme fatale in the shape of Alison Doody into the mix, and you have pure gold and cinema magic.
What do you guys think?

I love both but I prefer the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
I'm kidding... I'll go with TLC.

Both are in my Top 30 of all time, that's how much I love them. But Last Crusade is a tad better. I accidentally just rewatched it last week and I still can say: To me it is THE perfect adventure film.
Amazing action, incredible funny lines and moments, the intriguing quest for the Holy Grail set into the modern age and even tiny elements, which each for itsself is wonderful are seamless interweaven into the bigger picture - like bookburning in Berlin (the exact opposite pole of culture), Indy's childhood, a Zeppelin, cryptical riddles and so on. And it even gets emotional eventually. On top of this you have one of the greatest supporting performances ever from Sir Sean.

It's weird to me that Last Crusade is winning this. Don't get me wrong, it's great.
But Raiders was the original and standard bearer of the series. Everything you know and love about Indy, came from that film.
To me, It's like picking Back To The Future Part 3 over Back To The Future.
Part 3 is still pretty excellent, but it's not game changing enough to pick over the original film. Part 2 maybe is game changing enough to pick over the original (It's probably the Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy). But not Part 3.
So yeah, my vote is for Raiders, pretty easily.

To me it is THE perfect adventure film. I go back and forth between it and The Goonies, but at the moment I give Indy the edge.

I know I picked Raiders, but still wanted to say Sean Connery doesn't get enough credit for how incredible he is within the adventure genre. For my money, The Man Who Would Be King is as good a candidate as any for being the perfect adventure film. Caine and Connery at the height of their powers. Christopher Plummer as Rudyard Kipling. Damn, I love that movie.

Interesting thing about this Series so far. If we leave Mad Max to one side, as it didn't take account of the original film in the poll, the current standing is:
Originals: 4 Sequels: 8 Ties: 2
Although the polls are all still open, so that can change.

Raiders is a great film, but Last Crusade just smokes it in every way. I think Ford is better, I think the addition of Connery is crucial, the villains don't feel quite as cartoonish, etc., etc.

Raiders of the Lost Ark. A modern classic in every sense of the word.

Surprised that Crusade is winning, given that Raiders is generally regarded as the better film. I love both films, I even watched Crusade earlier this weekend, film has a lot of great comedy (Connery is hilarious), in addition to great action, but for my money Raiders is the perfect film. It's a great old serial homage, and the pacing, and the writing are almost one of a kind.

I like Last Crusade mainly due to the Ford/Connery chemistry and Elsa, but this really should not be a contest. Last Crusade is pretty much just a well made rehash of Raiders to apologize for Temple of Doom. Indy's racing the nazis to find a biblical macguffin again and has to join forces and make up with an estranged love one again. The original idea for Raiders was that Indy would pair up with the professor rather than the daughter, so this really is just an alternate version. Even the action beats are similar with the truck and tank chase.
Raiders is a perfect blockbuster action movie and even though Last Crusade is a nice copy you can't beat the original.
From Russia With Love vs Goldfinger would be a good one for this poll.
