Similar to competitors like Mad Max: Fury Road and Pacific Rim. Probably going to open to $45-50 million, right in line with predictions. It's not a bad opening, considering the 2014 Godzilla's reputation

With Godzilla 2014 it does look a bit low, but looking at creature movie opening history: www.boxofficemojo.com/genres/chart/?id=creaturefeature.htm&sort=opengross&order=DESC&adjust_yr=2017&p=.htmIt is arguably that 90 million Godzilla did in 2014 that was crazy high. It is a bit low because non-franchise one like Cloverfield and Pacific Rim did about the same, maybe the release date was not the best for it. Good last marketing push and good critical reception probably explain why it is performing significantly higher than the 40 million expected in January.

It's not a bad opening, considering the 2014 Godzilla's reputation Maybe, but it's a bit worrisome given the 190m dollar budget. As long as it can go well overseas, particularly in China, I guess WB will probably be okay with its performance.

I'm surprised at that Kong number. I guess Jackson has more bragging rights. LMAO.
As for Get Out... damnnnnnn. That thing looks like it will cross $200 mil. It made 20mil in its 3rd week. Wow.

Not surprised at all that Get Out is doing so well. You walk out of that movie and just know word-of-mouth will spread like wildfire.
