Violent Femmes and Ocean Rain should be higher ... glad to see ‘em though.

Wish Ocean Rain could have been higher and thought it would be, pretty sure I was the one with it at 4. Perfect record that meshes Beatlesesque psych pop with new wave. Not to keep picking on your sample choices, but how is Killing Moon not the choice there? It's their signature song.
Had Thriller on my ballot and know it will be high here because it's undeniable, but Bad shouldn't be here. It's got a couple great singles and the rest is blah.

Husker Du already appears......I'm getting a little misty eyed. Not my fave album of theirs but it's high points are really high points...... Pretty sure you and I were the two ballots that was on. I plead the fifth! I luv Candy Apply Grey and had it on mine too - Sorry Somehow, Dead Set on Destruction etc I dig it all the way.

Let's hear some Top 25 predictions. I'd guess that Remain in Light and The Queen is Dead will both be Top 5, but I honestly have no idea, especially with such a small group of voters.

I had King of America #10 and Swordish #11 - thought they'd both be a little higher!

Zen Arcade can be a rough listen at times but man when that bands locks down on a song........they were something else.
Happy to see them with so many appearances

I'll say this for that Smiths debut - when that was made no one even knew there was an audience for that record. Genuine game changing record whether I'm a fan or not ........

Master of Puppets has one of my fave lyrics on it - from Damage Inc "never happy endings on these dark sets" - every time I'm having a bad day .......I think of that one.
I think Ride The Lightning is gonna be very high on this list......

Once you get past Black Sabbath heavy metal is just lost on me, in particular that 80's thrash sound. Once checked out some doom/funeral metal because descriptions of it online made it sound lie the kind of thing I would like but I didn't go for that either.

Mostly that's true for me too although Motorhead pushes my buttons in the classic lineup too. I really can't understand how a lot of people who love metal didn't come out for the 70s poll - iirc Sabbath missed entirely.

Wow, stunned Thriller is so low and that it was only on three ballots. Thought it had a shot at being like top 5. Think I had it at like 13 or 14. Once you get past Black Sabbath heavy metal is just lost on me, in particular that 80's thrash sound. Once checked out some doom/funeral metal because descriptions of it online made it sound lie the kind of thing I would like but I didn't go for that either. I really can't understand how a lot of people who love metal didn't come out for the 70s poll - iirc Sabbath missed entirely. I think I had Paranoid fairly high. They remind me as much of a punk band as they do metal on their early stuff which is probably why I like them.

No band from the 80s is remembered more warmly than the Cure - if you talk to like younger people, like the average 7 year old on this board they think The Cure were the biggest band of the decade.
Thats not a put down but if you told me that they make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have 80s Satellite radio programs that live off of them I'd be a little unsure but they hold a very high place that's increased over the years.
