So this is an interesting one to me. I only became aware since researching a bit for this poll, and seeing that Top 100 of the decade list that was posted here recently, that Magic Mike XXL seems to be regarded not only as a really good film, but as a superior sequel. As someone who really disliked the stale and dull original, I do agree that it is a superior sequel, but it doesn't mean I like it. XXL is a 4 to the originals 3. I guess I'm not gay enough to think these aren't worthless crap.

It's tough, actually. I think Magic Mike is one of Soderbergh's better films (I'm not really all that crazy about him, to be honest), but XXL cut out the things about the first film I hated, but it also didn't have McConaughey (who was the best thing about either film).
I'll give the edge to XXL because Andie MacDowell was a delight.

The second one is significantly less interesting and lacks the seedy darkness of the first one. It's kind of a waste of time while the first one is good.
