How blessed are we to receive sequels to two Warner Bros 6-time Oscar winning desert-set blockbusters in the same year. This is gonna be such a damn blast. I'm so excited to cut a Mad Max: Arrakis trailer later this year.

I know plans can change but in the original post it mentions that both of the Fury Road sequels will involve Mad Max - so does that mean that we can expect to see Max in Furiosa? I’m guessing maybe as a cameo, but would it be a younger actor as Max or will Hardy possibly be returning?

action still looks too video-gamey but that trailer is definitely an improvement.

Movie posters are generally garbage. They're just trying to get the two names there, and doing a shit job at it.

That gives me pause. Sounds very bloated for this kind of project.

That gives me pause. Sounds very bloated for this kind of project. It had me for 2 hrs. 28 minutes but 2 hrs. 28 mins AND 2 SECONDS? nah I'm out.

That gives me pause. Sounds very bloated for this kind of project. But what kind of project do you suppose it it? 'Cause it's not Fury Road. Miller's own quote: To me the prolonged runtime feels more than justified for that type of movie. I'm pumped - the more greatness, the better. As long as it's greatness indeed.

I am still seeing this as an action-oriented movie, as shown in the trailers. Something this long needs to be almost entirely character development, and I'm finding that unlikely.

MI Fallout is too… What weird made up rule is that?

The Matrix could have easily cut over half an hour and lost nothing. I haven't seen Raid 2, but Raid 1 is super boring because it is nothing but dance moves with no plot. Fallout I also haven't seen, but that is because the M:I series has sucked balls for a long time. Fury Road interspersed great characters development throughout the action scenes. Simple stuff, but we didn't stop the action to learn about the characters. Furiosa is a good person who has to be taught to trust Max and Nux and not to treat them like "things" by seeing their actions. Nux joins the good guys because he is shown kindness and learns to overcome his preconceptions (teaching Furiosa to do the same). Max changes from a loner out to save himself to a man that will lay down everything to give these women a chance at happiness as they give him chances they had no reason to believe he deserved. That could work in Fury Road, but in a longer movie, you need more breathing time between action scenes. The Raid fails precisely because it never breathes at all, never gives a reason to be invested. I'm not saying that an action-heavy long movie can't work, but that it gets exponentially harder to keep an audience invested without strong character work the longer it goes on.

Your bad taste in action movies aside Furiouso obviously has a completely different story structure (much like how The Raid and Raid 2 are so different in structure there aren’t even really the same genre) as someone else has mentioned. It takes place over 15 years and Fury Road over 3 days. The specific movies mentioned aren’t the point your weird “movies that long need to be almost all character development” rule you made up was the point. I could name dozens of long action movies that aren’t all character development.

Your bad taste in action movies aside I prefer to call my tastes "unique" Nobody can accuse me of liking something just because everyone else likes it. You could argue that I dislike movies only because they're liked by others, but I prefer to see myself as hating everything equally until they prove that they are worthy of enjoyment.

I’m super glad George Miller isn’t making this movie for people who hate action movies, I guess.
