Netflix doesn't aim for the Oscars for all these movies, right?
And yet, all of them will get a theatrical release...
Killing cinema? Wouldn't say so, people.

Looks wonderful indeed but I've said it before, I'll say it again - anybody picking this to actually win BP hasn't convinced me as to why and I doubted from the beginning anyway.......I'm an acting guy so for me this is catnip sure........... but for a lot of people this will be "yeah I got a divorce too, it sucked.......pass"

Looks good. Not something really special but quite good.
ScarJo's nomination is certain. I'd love to see her wining.

With preferential balloting, the film isn't polarizing where it will get lower rankings. The film is set within the industry. It can be alternative to the big epics like OUATIH and The Irishman. An updated Kramer vs Kramer.

Those are good points .........I guess I just see it as a movie which gets all 3rd place votes and loses because no one feels passionate about it........I don't buy the Kramer vs. Kramer argument for a couple reasons - first, different Academy - 40 years have passed (and that movie was a big hit with a genuine superstar lead) but besides that the Academy had awarded a Vietnam film the previous year - so there was epic war fatigue that hurt the obvious (imo) best film in '79. I'm not sure that an alternative to the big epics is in the cards in 2019 .....it's which of the big epics wins rather......but of course long way to go.

I have a feeling I might like Marriage Story a bit more... Anyway, I can totally see QT wining BP but maybe I'd rather Baumbach's film to be the winner. We'll see...

This boring-ass, basic-ass, been there done that-ass, I've been through a break-up too-ass, not epic enough-ass, Kramer vs. Kramer for Millennials-ass, Oscar bait-ass, no passion-ass, no revolutionary CGI-ass, critics thing only-ass, #3 on a preferential ballot-ass bullshit looks right up my fucking alley and I cannot fucking wait for it.
