First Man was the best film of 2018, and significantly better than Whiplash and La La Land. Chazelle is the most exciting young director.

Don't know if this is still the case but apparently at one point the script was 180 pages and NC-17.

Pitt and Stone in a movie about 20s Hollywood sounds very promising. I have my concerns about Chazelle though...

If Chazelle really is assembling an "all star ensemble" for this, then the budget is going to be pretty hefty and this is not the kind of film that generally makes big bucks at the BO.Risky.

I hope he doesnt get in over his head cause he needs people to open the movie. People will go see Brad if the picture looks accessible but Emma cant open movies. He needs another bp contender cause First Man underperformed with $100 mil worldwide.

People love that pairing and Richard is older but he cleans up nicely.

Hasn’t she been confirmed pregnant for a couple months?

Hasn’t she been confirmed pregnant for a couple months? Maybe I missed it but haven't seen anything "officially" confirming it. Recent pictures indicate it though.

Similar enough look though, and often times that is enough for another perfomer to suffer (it's never been the same for Bryce Dallas Howard, since look-alike Jessica Chastain showed up). Stone is naturally a comedy/rom-com/romantic drama type of performer, in a time period in the industry where the vehicles that suit her best aren't as succesful or made as often. There are only so many Easy A's, LaLa Lands and Crazy Stupid Love's being made. So she's essentially had to start doing the type of darker, period and weirder roles that are actually on paper a better fit for Taylor-Joy. Cruella, The Favourite, her Netflix show, Maniac . I could easily see Taylor-Joy being cast in Stone's roles in those projects Taylor-Joy naturally exudes more sensuality as well, so a lot of these roles Stone does now out of necessity, Taylor-Joy may actually bring an added dimension to.

Bryce Dallas Howard had 7 years from The Village to Jessica Chastain bursting onto the scene in 2011 (in the kind of roles that weren't going to BDH anyway). And in that time since, Howard has had her biggest commercial hit as a lead for the Jurassic World films and started doing more directing. If her career had any kind of lull, it was because she had a baby in 2012 that occupied her for a couple years, not because Chastain showed up.

Calling it now: Robbie will either win for this or O. Russel's "Amsterdam". Question is if they will both be ready in time for next year's Oscars.

They're incredibly similar in appearance, but Howard never appeared to be in consideration for most of the roles Chastain wound up playing.

I’m leaning towards Stephen on this one that I don’t see the roles each is up for overlapping too much.
