Girl With Hyacinths which I consider a second-tier foreign classic, a Swedish mystery with noir touches but aligns closer to dark melodrama with pointed (if predictable) dissection of identity, repression, artist subcultures.... Bergman called it "an absolute masterpiece"

Want to vote for Orpheus as it's my favorite of the year and one of my favorites of the decade, but I feel like it's also probably one of Cocteau's most well-known, just doesn't seem like it's talked about a ton here.
So I'll go with Dassin's Night and the City which doesn't get talked about nearly as much as his heist films and yet it's just as good, if not better than some. Also features one of Richard Widmark and Gene Tierney's finest performances.
