I know I'm alone here, but I prefer the remake!

I know I'm alone here, but I prefer the remake! You aren't alone. Hitchcock is the master, but his original was one of his lesser suspense works. Best thing about it was the title. The Michael Douglas starring version was an improvement, imho.

In the original one, Kelly 's lover was really in love with her. In the remake, Mortensen just wants money and he's ready to send someone to kill her . I need to rewatch the original to make a choice though.

I've... never even heard of the remake? Noob. This is the best Hitchcock remake. Most of the others are not good. Except Disturbia is rather decent, but that feels so different than Rear Window that you can't even almost call it a remake.

I don't like the remake and the original is a masterpiece.

Let's say that Milland almost manages in committing the perfect murder, as he leads the police to believe his wife killed the aggressor because he blackmailed her, thus she's sentenced to death. Douglas, even if everything would have gone his way, would still have his wealthy wife alive and free to leave him in financial troubles eventually.

The original is not among Hitch's best works, but still it's far better than the remake, which has no atmosphere at all.
