This one is easy for me, as I don't think the original is all its cracked up to be. I do consider it a very good film, but not that great and not worthy of its classic reputation in my eyes. The sequel however is a truly great film and I loved it. Simple choice here for me.
If you have a much loved duo from the same series you'd like to see this done for, mention it below.

Scott's film is masterful and all, but 2049 all the way.

Very difficult as both are equally excellent in my opinion. I'll pick the original by a slight margin.

Both are hugely overrated, but the original is quite a bit better.

2049 walks all over the first one. More emotional power, more involving plot, damn near perfect pacing. The original is good as an exercise in atmosphere, but I don't see much underneath.

Both are basically perfect but Blade Runner holds such a special place in my heart that any sequel, no matter how perfect, was ever really going to top it for me. And as much as I love 2049, there is a certain clunkiness to some parts that hold it back, not quite the more seamless & masterful piece of art that its predecessor is. But I absolutely love both.

This is like my Sophie's Choice. Blade Runner, prior to seeing 2049 (and I suppose still now), was in my top 50 ever. But 2049 quickly worked its way up the ranks and settles damn close to it. With another re-watch of each, I actually imagine 2049 could top it, so for now I'm giving it my vote.

This sums up my view pretty exactly as well.

The original is an instant classic. I liked 2049 but didn't love it as much as the first one.

2049. 1982 is really good, and has a wonderful design and look, but with 2049 I was far more engaged and engrossed in its overall plot.

2049 is excellent but the original film is one of a kind. It's also much stranger and free-wheeling than the rather straightfoward 2049 which is a huge plus in my book.

I dislike both films, but while the original was just dull and uninteresting, Blade Runner 2049, while being just as dull and uninteresting as the former, also had some comedically inept writing (mostly Leto's cringe inducing ramblings) and generally Leto brings the film down to unwatchable territory. So I guess I consider it worse than the original.

Quality-wise, I think that, overall, the original is far more consistent and balanced than the sequel. They're practically tied as far as cinematography and production design are concerned, but for the rest, I much prefer the original.
