Indiewire (prematurely?) published this top 50 list of the decade's best TV series yesterday ... seems a bit early to me, but let the games begin I guess? I thought it was interesting ... thoughts? Some notable absences: Game of Thrones (lmfao), Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (how??), Chernobyl (again, likely a product of jumping the gun on this list, surely most of this was compiled before/while the show was airing, otherwise its absence is totally mind-boggling) ... others?? Glad that Twin Peaks is on here. Hate that it's as low as it is. I guess they might've docked it because it was only one season as opposed to series that sustained great quality over several years... The top ten is beautiful ... other than Hannibal (hated) and Fleabag and 30 Rock (haven't seen, dying to watch the former) ... if I'm getting nitpicky: The Americans is top 3 material and BoJack should be an obvious #1, but I shouldn't complain too much. Their #1 choice is damned inspired as is... Tuca & Bertie is very charming and wonderful ... so I'm glad it made but, #20??? Come on, now. Love seeing Rectify on here (best show I never finished ... need to get back to it some day). Shocked that Big Little Lies isn't higher ... and Barry also should be, though it's spot ain't bad.

God I hate Indiewire ....like on everything they do they're just wrong and annoying and achingly fake woke about everything too.
Anyway no dogs in this fight because I'm not much of a TV guy but what is gained in this day and age of not just picking a season (or two) on self contained series? There's not 49 TV shows better than season 1 of True Detective - so just review it like that. People reading this are going to be overwhelmed.......help them out a little Indiewire...........jeez.

The Game of Thrones snub is childish.

Don't feel there's a genuine reason behind tossing Twin Peaks on there in the middle - it was almost the epitome of something that people were either extremely passionate about or didn't care for at all (and I mean really, really didn't care for at all)...so while it's definitely possible that's just how much they liked it, the placement reeks to me of just throwing it in there, and I don't give sites like Indiewire the benefit of the doubt with stuff like that the way I do for other film/art lovers.

Pretty awful list... well at least the order is completely fucked.
Some hilarious inclusions (Speechless), 30 Rock (which was at its best before 2010) above The Americans (lmaoooo), Fleabag (which I actually finished watching a few hours ago) at #2? Insane. Great show... but insane. Justified is hilariously underrated too.
Glad they acknowledged Terriers and Nathan for You though... and I really need to watch Rectify and Halt and Catch Fire.
Missing:
The Knick Banshee Baskets Bates Motel American Vandal (hm my ass) Mindhunter The Deuce Happy Endings Louie Enlightened (hm my ass)

Honestly when Twin Peaks was at number 29, I should have just stopped looking at it, as it is simply stupid for it not to be at least in the Top 10, when it should be #1. Anyway, in the lists defense, at least Breaking Bad wasn't number 1. Then, to shit on it again, and to merely reiterate some of the post above me, where the fuck are American Vandal, Mindhunter & The Deuce. Lists are lists, and should all be taken with a grain of salt (including our own lists), but this may be the worst list I've seen that I feel I have a right to comment on. A last couple of things though, props to them for shoving Fargo that far down, as it needs to be included, but Season 3 was crappy enough to justify that placing. Also, I really need to watch The Leftovers. I would consider myself far more of an TV guy than a film guy, but I feel like the fact I haven't watched this show, doesn't add much credence to that self evaluation.
Edit: Another finally ...I would have had no objection if Chernobyl was #1 on this list. It doesn't matter a jot to me that it only finished less than two weeks ago, sometimes greatness is immediate.

Only really good thing here is #1 choice - it's between Leftovers and Americans for me, personally.
Also, I don't care if its best seasons were arguably its first 4, not including Mad Men is an absolute crime.
