One film. It doesn't get shorter than that, and Welch left an indelible mark. She took the role the studio wanted to give to Ava Gardner. It's Sam Fuller's most important film. No-brainer.

Abraham Polonsky as a director. Force of Evil is a film noir masterpiece.
Also worth mentioning is Robert Montgomery, as a director. He has 5 films to his credit, including Lady in the Lake and Ride the Pink Horse, which are significant film noirs. (He also completed some of the direction for Ford's, They were Expendable, but he was not the film's main director, so this doesn't really count as a 6th).

I'm surprised Tommy Wiseau hasn't been mentioned. He's still active theoretically but he's only done one feature (as director and writer) and I guess he won't make more than five films in total. Plus he's made the greatest worst film in history.
OK I'm half-kidding. Or not...

Has anyone seen anything by Pavel Jurácek? I just watched a film of his last night Case For A Rookie Hangman (1970?) and was kind of blown away by this - I know he only made a couple movies and then his career was shut down basically. The film is sort of unlike anything I'd even gravitate to tbh - very free-flowing and almost dream like but kind of mesmerizing. Some of the images are flat out inspired. Anybody know anything about him or who has seen this one? Adding some people who might know this maybe ? - Mattsby themoviesinner Film Socialism JangoB wilcinema Here's the trailer for those who are curious - I love this music too...

Bob Fosse directed only five feature films. Wow didn't realize this! And all five were major Oscar/Golden Globe players.

Have to emphasize Charles Laughton directing Night of the Hunter-- one of the best. Why was this his only one?
Bruno S - The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser
All the kids from Willy Wonka
Enzo Staiola as the son Bruno in Bicycle Thieves
Carlo Battisti in Umberto D.

Even if I loved Staiola in his performance as a kid, he was in more than 5 movies : it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enzo_Staiola
