I don't know man but the dude is major - the most acclaimed Aussie actor ever in EACH of Film/TV/Stage and all 3 mediums cumulatively also - it's not about awards but he's got those too. The only guy besides Al Pacino to have the Triple Crown of Acting for 3 separate Lead Roles - an astonishing fact that must really be astonishing since I always post it - despite being an outsider to all 3 of the awards themselves - he appeared on Broadway just once iirc.....US TV just a couple times......4 Oscar nominations (more than Crowe.......more than Finch.......more than Ledger......) without THAT much work and he didn't make his footprint until his mid-40s. I know he's not everybody's cup of tea but to me he's pretty inarguable as a guy whose done some real idiosyncratic and special work......unfortunately his looks hold him back in the same way that Willem Dafoe who may be the best American film actor (not biggest star obviously) of the 80s generation (very arguably) is never, ever called that. But Rush is even more acclaimed and big time in a way than Dafoe really is and Dafoe has far sturdier American rivals/colleagues (and far more of them too)........

This is a major shocker - Rush stepping into the role of Antonio - this is I believe the only acting he's done at all since his legal trouble/harrassment claims when he announced his retirement. So this is 2 triple crown winners out of the 4 in the world interacting (and the only 2 Lead winners), and he's playing the part one of the other two triple crown winners played in the film (Jeremy Irons). This is an acting event I'd say if you're in LA - and actually for Pacino too, who at 79 I wouldn't have expected to see on a stage after his last 2 shaky turns - it's only a reading but still, that's something.....I would love to see Rush play The Fool to Pacino's filmed Lear.... www.broadwayworld.com/los-angeles/article/SIMPLY-SHAKESPEARE-Benefit-Comes-to-Gindi-Auditorium-Starring-Al-Pacino-and-Geoffrey-Rush-20191009

Well he hasn't Mel Gibson looks, and still he was the lead or co lead in the Pirates Franchise.- He is like the White Samuel L. Jackson, so he is demanded, and have an Oscar win and other Oscar noms in lead and supporting.-
He is no more popular now, because he is hidding with all the me too allegations against him. When the storm ends, he will appear more.-
PS. He won a trial against a tabloid in April, in which he was accusated of sexual harrasment, so soon I think he will have a big comeback.-

Haven't seen Pacino on stage (of course) but I consider his film performance of MoV one of the best in his career.
I believe the last time he staged MoV a few years ago wasn't critically acclaimed though...

A lot of people had him down to win his 3rd Tony for that......but late in the season stephen favorite (play and actor) Mark Rylance did Jerusalem which basically obliterated that speculation unfortunately For this reading it's a reunion of this Broadway cast but with Rush added:

Or maybe I don't remember correctly...

Saw a TV profile on Rush last night and it said he has "no plans to ever again act in front of a camera" - still - so, if true his last film was 2019's Storm Boy he turns 70 in July. They described Rush as one of "one of the finest actors ever - one of just a few actors ever to have won "all the awards" (um): an Emmy (1), Oscar (1), Tony (1), Golden Globe (2), SAG (2), BAFTA (3)........which is sort of like just stretching out the Triple Crown I guess So, that's just Rush, Plummer and Pacino (Irons/Robards are missing BAFTA and Robards also missing the Globe and SAG). Rush won his lawsuit against The Daily Telegraph ($2.87 million) - in theory he could act and has some significant support too - he hasn't been "Dustin Hoffman'd" and he's not that old.... It's a very odd ending to a career ..........if it is an ending......
