Not that they should be, but nothing's sacred in Hollywood.

Do someone know how copyrights work for remake of old movie, for example there is a gender swap It's a wonderful life remake (a Christmas tv-movie special):
And it is extremelly similar, with the same opening and everything, same dialogue for the most part.
Did they needed to clear with the Capra estate ? Do those movie end up owned by distributor ?

The Maltese Falcon- specially considering it's a remake itself. A Touch of Evil

Not a fan of the film but this is actually something you'd expect to have been remade by now.

Fassbinder's Veronika Voss is actually a remake of this and it's imo the better film.

"Jason and the Argonauts". Seems kinda perfect for a big blockbuster.

Casablanca was kind of loosely remade as Havana in 1990. They aren't carbon copies, but there are some similarities. But since very few people saw Havana (it lost a ton of money back in 1990), this is not well known.

For some reason this reminded me of the time Madonna wanted to do a Casablanca remake set in Iraq starring she and Josh Hartnett and the Warner Brothers execs were like "LOL, no"

"Jason and the Argonauts". Seems kinda perfect for a big blockbuster. what a joke, there have been countless movies/tv remakes of it There's literally been only one TV version in 2000, you moron. We're talking about cinematic remakes here. And don't give me that bullshit about similar projects like "Clash of the Titans" or something. I was talking about a proper remake of a particular film.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Sabrina Roman Holiday Two for the Road Wait Until Dark
I'd be quite surprised if none of the above 5 are remade yet.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Sabrina Roman Holiday Two for the Road Wait Until Dark I'd be quite surprised if none of the above 5 are remade yet. Sabrina was, but I'm surprised at even that because it seems like AH is so iconic that no one would attempt to replace her in one of her major parts. A Breakfast at Tiffany's remake would just be such a vanity trip for whatever actress did it. Wait Until Dark may be an exception because that kind of has a separate legacy as a stage play. Wasn't there a kind of remake of Roman Holiday with Hillary Duff or something playing the president's daughter instead of a princess? That doesn't exactly count, though, since it falls more into the "rip-off" category than remake.
