The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in. Yeah that frustrates me at times. Looks good when it comes off but sometimes you just have to whack that ball. Tbf, Xhaka and Sanchez aren't afraid to have a pop from distance, but it's few and far between. When we had the invincibles it was simply a powerhouse team from back to front and won games by overwhelming the opposition with our strength, pace and being clinical in front of goal. God I miss those days. But who knows, maybe Wenger has one more trick up his sleeve. What do you think of your summer transfer business so far? Only one player signed, Maureen getting a bit angsty. Thought you would have signed at least a few by now.

Ohhhh it's so lovely to have another well informed and dedicated Gooner on here apart from me. Should be an interesting season that's for sure. Let's hope Lacazette is just the start of a couple more big money signings. Wenger seems very keen on Lemar, Mahrez and Mbappe. The latter would cost an arm and a leg but shit, it won't hurt trying and it would be worth it and then some. The kid is a fucking beast. Lemar is such a fantastic and overlooked player, at least comparing to Mbappé or Bernardo Silva, or even Mendy/Fabinho, that I think we should just go for him - He is the perfect hard working winger with excellent crossing/passing ability, Jardim made him into a beast. Hard working wingers and full-backs is what a team needs - Hopefully players likes Kolasinac (which never impressed me that much) prove me wrong. And I think Bellerín will stay with us. so that´s cool. Mahrez is definitely going to leave Leicester, so he would be another fine alternative and I bet he would be willing to join us for sure - he might not have Champions League football but fuck that, Kanté didn´t have Champions League football this season. Mbappé is fucking worth the investment - he is Ballon D´Or/Golden Boot material (still hard to believe he is only 18 years old, one year younger than me, and already did THAT - but with all this Real Madrid´s craziness I am kinda skeptical. - But I believe the kid is humble and with Arsenal he would have all the playing time to evolve (and learn with someone who made Thierry Henry into the GOAT Premier League ST). I guess from that perspective, I see an advantage for us BTW this new kid Chris Willock just joined Benfica (my club in Portugal) thoughts on this dude?

Re: Chris Willock, I think this move will do him the world of good. He spent most of his time at Arsenal in the reserves and eventually broke into the first team last season with a couple of appearances; he has good pace and can finish. Still very young and has plenty to work on, but more game time will obviously help him develop quicker. I hope he does well for you guys. Anywho....

Who did we sign and do you think it was a smart decision? So far you've signed a Swedish defender called Victor Lindelöf from Benfica. Decent pick up as he's still in his early 20's but has lots of potential to be a top player. You're going to need a few more additions though, especially in the striker department. Álvaro Morata seems to be the likeliest to come and that would be a great coup because he's a very good player buts get limited minutes at Real Madrid which is to be expected when you have so many classy forwards ahead of you in the pecking order. However his goal to game ratio is excellent .Rooney looks to be on his way out and back to Everton, his boyhood club. He's been great servant for Utd and undoubtedly a legend but clearly not the same player anymore and he's lost that drive simply because he's not playing regularly. I think this move will reignite that spark once he had.

Anywho.... That´s good to know, looking forward to see Willock play, he seems to have a lot of potential that´s for sure. If there´s one thing Benfica can do, is to develop young players, so I think he will do good. AND fuck yeah!!!! finally a decent striker, no disrespect to Giroud. After all these years, why the fuck did we really start to invest and spend fucking money on expensive and quality players? in a season without Champions League...well, at least we are investing, now we just need a center-back, possibly some full-backs and someone like William Carvalho. BTW what´s with Everton and all those players they are getting? goddamn

But with the way we play - intricate, quick passing in the final third - mobility is key to our attack. Lacazette is always looking to get in behind the defence and always on the shoulder of the CB. Once he's taken off, you can't catch him. People have been trying to dismiss his qualities and bring up the fact that Giroud starts ahead of him for the France National team. But that's only because they play a 4-3-2-1 and he's perfectly suited for that system as a target man. We [Arsenal] set up entirely different, and will play to Lacazatte's strengths. Man, if we manage to keep hold of Alexis and Özil, we'll have our own MSN (Messi, Suarez, Neymar) like trio with AÖL (Alexis, Özil, Lacazette). Premier League BEWARE. Also, I think we've started spending because the fans hadn't been as vocal about their discontent as they were last season. Banners, chants et al protesting about the board and Wenger to leave was almost a norm and I think they eventually they got the hint -- WE WEREN'T GOING TO SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY ANY LONGER. We're a huge club with a fantastic heritage but are being made to look like fodder whilst the likes of Chelsea, Man City and even fucking Tottenham Hotspur are progressing year by year. It's just not on anymore, time to rise back to the upper echelons of not just English football but Europe in general. And yeah Everton are really overhauling their squad, could be a team to watch out for. But if they lose Lukaku which seems highly likely, that'll be a huge blow. I have a question, would you rather Gelson Martins or Thomas Lemar?

I have a question, would you rather Gelson Martins or Thomas Lemar? I agree with absolutely everything. Deschamps is just a noob let´s face it, the man has a tremendous and fantastic range of options at his disposal, particularly in the ST positions, and he choses Giroud over Lacazette, or Mbappé, or even Benzema (altough this is a complete different situation), but anyway...people can´t just dismiss Lacazette´s qualities, like you said, because of Giroud in their NT. Well, I must say that we took advantage of the fact that he is not a starter in his national team, because if he was, his market value would be much higher (this is just theory tho). Lacazette is a complete different beast - He fits perfectly into our system and style of play. Every gooner hopes we can keep Özil and Alexis, both are preponderant for our dynamic ball possession. I believe they will stay because of this important investment we´ve been doing in the past couple of months. Alexis and Laca, both agressive and really fast, would be tremendous headaches for the opposing defenses, they are very mobile players. And we still have Welbeck, Iwobi (great lad), Ox, Walcott, etc whenever necessary. It´s time to change our fucking mentality, we have the heritage, the titles, the players, the structure, the supporters to change, and there must be a mutual effort of all the people involved for this to work. I mean, I still remember when Arsenal used to kick every team´s ass in the Emirates, we were respected, but now people just come with the "4rsenal" shit, it´s annoying (and I don´t even have to talk about what I see on Arsenal TV or whatever). I guess Lukaku just went to Man Utd, which is good for them (Morata is "overrated"). Mou´s teams are usually stronger in their second season with my fellow countryman. - Of course I don´t like this. You know that´s a great question, and I really don´t know how to explain the answer. They are both fantastic wingers with great technical quality. I guess at the moment I would prefer Lemar because of its versatility (and also because he is french and has Top Level Champions League football blood running in his veins). Buying a winger like Lemar would be really helpful , as he can play on the wings (mostly on the left of course), and also as a CAM, making him a goal-scoring threat. Players like Ramsey, Cazorla, Xhaka, Özil are quality/quality but we will need more midfield depth. As for Gelson: I think he is one of the most promising wingers playing in Europe, a fantastic talent. I know him very well, and he was one of the main reasons I used to watch Sporting´s matches last season (that Sporting Academy is stuffed with so many talents, it´s fucking crazy). He is very fast and in most cases unselfish - the classical winger, relying too much on the line sometimes. I would love to see him playing for us, but for now I would choose Lemar. If we could have both, that would be fucking A. If we sign at least one of them, I´m a happy man. But for now I think we need another Center-back, any suggestions?

Gold Cup started today. Couldn't find the game in Spanish so I have to deal with this low energy English commentating. FS1 stole one of Univision's commentators and used him during the Confederations Cup. Where's he at?

Man, how perfect would Koulibaly be? he is a fucking beast. But I agree, it´s really hard to sign players from Napoli, it´s a very conservative club. Laporte is another dream, but I think Barça is about to sign him. The dutch Van Dijk (very expensive), De Vrij (Lazio) or Iñigo Martínez (especially this guy from Real Sociedad) are also pretty damn great, I think one of them would be fantastic. I´ve heard some rumours about Simon Kjaer from Fenerbaçhe but I don´t think he is the right choice. Think we can keep Bellerín? because I have been following the market movement and I still have some doubts regarding that subject...so if not, who would you chose as a replacement?

Yeah Kjaer has been linked with us for a few months now but we could do far better. Chelsea are about sign Rudiger from Roma -- definitely wouldn't have minded him in our team. Man I really hope Bellerin stays, he's one of a kind. His defensive qualities still need some ironing out but when you have blistering speed that can help you recover when out of position or bombing down the wings, there are very few around that possess those attributes. There's a couple that could come in if Hector leaves, although that would depend on the their clubs willingness to sell. Mariano (Sevilla), Sidibé (Monaco) & Ricardo Pereira (Nice) are all really good full backs. But they're also indispensable figures for their teams, which is why I have doubts we could get them. No doubt Bellerin wants to move to Barcelona one day (who wouldn't?), but he recently signed a new contract until 2023. Let's hope he remains put for another season or two, maybe win a title first and then he can join The Catalans. I'd rather he obviously stay though. What do you think of Rooney going back to his boyhood club Everton?

What do you think of Rooney going back to his boyhood club Everton? Yeah, I just can´t see Van Dijk joining Liverpool, so there´s still an open door, we should go for him. Rudiger would have been perfect but just signed for the Plastic Chelsea Club. I agree. Bellerín is one of the fastest players in the world, it´s insane, and he is improving a lot. The only right back that is very similiar to him (but with superior technical quality) it´s Nélson Semedo from my Benfica, also on Barça´s radar - he could be someone very good to replace Bellerín, but I´m confident the spanish will stay despite Barça´s interest, at least for two seasons to win a title. - Mariano would be a great catch, I bet he would be willing to join us, I really dig him. Sidibé is also a great prospect, but probably too expensive. I know Ricardo Pereira very well (probably the most underrated fullback I know), he is a very consistent player, and versatile, I think he would be really perfect - He just returned to Porto (he was loaned to Nice for 2 seasons, where he evolved like well) and he has very accessible release clause (22 million £, something like this), but I also heard Juventus is targeting him. Rooney is a legend to me and he made the right choice of course. He is not the same he used to be, but he still deserves all the respect and attention. He is a player I've always admired (for Manchestah and for his country, even in good or bad moments) and he is joining a team that wants to have something important to say next season. The timing of this decision could not have been better. I hope he gets in better shape because the quality is still there, and he will have the oportunity to play regularly. Watch out for Everton, I believe they are going to spend that Lukaku money very well. Thoughts on Kolasinac btw?

I agree, Rooney in his pomp was a pretty devastating player, especially in those two seasons back in 10-12. He loves scoring against us though doesn't he? God that was annoying. He also played a part in ending two of our long unbeaten records (his first ever PL goal with Everton when he scored the winner and then DIVING against us to win the penalty in the 2-0 loss at Man Utd which finally put a stop to our sensational 49-game unbeaten run. There's some things about him that grate me the wrong way, but overall he's had a brilliant career. Everton are certainly splashing the dosh -- Koeman's obviously been given the license to rebuild the team the way he wants. Will be interesting to see how they do. I think Kolasinac is a very decent signing; has got incredible strength and defensively astute. He will need to be careful with his aggressiveness though, can go slightly overboard at times and the way the Premier League is officiated these days, he could be a yellow card magnet. That said, we need some steel back in this team; too many fairies prancing about the last few years. Imposing figures like him are always welcome. What do you think of him?

Let´s see if he gains another momentum with Everton, Koeman is a fine manager. I agree about Kolasinac. He is a solid player, very strong (he used to play as a CB when he was younger, so he has that very useful versatility). We need guys like him, that´s for sure. Kieran Gibbs is probably leaving, Monreal is a very reliable left-back, but I still think we need a world-class left-back. The problem is that great left-backs are becoming more and more expensive, and rare as fuck. I think Kolasinac and Monreal are very capable but I would sign a guy like Grimaldo (at least trying), he is so fucking talented. Let´s see what Wenger can do about that.

The likes of Vieira and Keane squaring up in the tunnel before the match, or our boys jumping all over van Nistelrooy when he missed that penalty. Those really were some great Premier League moments -- it's just not the same anymore. Regarding Grimaldo, what were Barcelona thinking when they literally handed him to Benfica for peanuts? Absolute muppets, lol. He's fucking class and would be a great pick up. Did you see that Ozil wants to sign a new contact this summer? Hallelujah! Now we just need Alexis to follow suit.

Football is so fucking different now, it´s just not the same anymore. Mourinho´s first arrival to Chelsea changed a lot of things (or should I say Abramovic). Barcelona did a great favour to my club, and I thank them for their stupidity. Grimaldo is probably the most promising left-back at the moment. Benfica just sold Nélson Semedo to Barcelona btw (after Ederson to City and Lindelöf to Man Utd), so that means we will keep Bellerín - if my team sells Grimaldo to my other team, I will have some mixed feelings, but Benfica always gets reliable substitutes, so why not? Yes I did, we need Ozil, thank God he is smart...Alexis was on the new kits presentation (I think) so that can be a good sign...we need to make some fucking moves on the market, I want too see good news as soons as possible
