Absolutely agree. I can't for the life of me work out why certain stars who are no longer big-time movie stars, keep churning out these mostly forgettable clunkers/ Tax avoidance scams that go straight to VOD. I know they need to earn a living and want to stay working, but it must be soul sucking to keep making these C-grade films few people are interested in. This is the golden age of TV. Sign up to a great show that millions of people want to watch, that you can be proud of and makes you insanely rich. It's a no brainer, instead of still pretending you are a movie star. Cusack should have done a Kiefer Sutherland years ago. I'd give similar advice to Nic Cage and Wesley Snipes. Obviously, this is no 24, and it may not completely change Cusack's fortunes like that show did for Sutherland, but it's a start.

Well you know, he looks like me, and reminds me of me by how he acts so it's baffling why such a good-looking and personable guy wouldn't be a huge film star........oh shut up! One of the things I think must be hard on TV is knowing what to buy into and you know once you buy into it, you're stuck. It's like working as a musician all your life and then realizing you don't have any money so you have to go and get a 9-5 job at 40.....I suppose that's what this is the equivalent of for some actors, and even then the synopsis of these projects always sounds "shaky" to me - like rarely do I ever hear about series TV and think - that's a great idea! But best of luck to him with this, he's a very ingratiating and affable actor.....and could use some good luck.

Yes! One of the most watchable actors ever.💖 Such a shame that he has been grossly underused lately.

This is still happening? Jesus Christ. The original was one of the most imaginative and dynamite TV series in the last decade, and now Gillian Flynn's gonna get her hacky mitts on it? There is no justice.
With that said, Cusack's an intriguing casting choice because I know he is capable of far more than he's exhibited over the last few years, but Flynn is not the screenwriter to play to his strengths.

Here for the Cusackaissance. (Trailer is kinda meh, Amazon sure loves their conspiratorial ragtags, and you know they hadda stress that viral pandemic line)

I wanted to see Fincher's Utopia on HBO with Rooney Mara, not this shit. Then again, remaking Utopia was a pretty pointless endeavor and this proves it.

I read that Fiona Dourif was in this and I swear I saw an on set photo, but she's not credited. Weird. That's the only thing really drawing me to this. I try not to shit on remakes and reboots and prefer when they do their own thing, but this doesn't look good at all.

73% RT, from 22 critics. Some praise this pretty highly.
I liked it a little more than Hunters, a little less than The Boys. All three shows are exceedingly similar (and they all trail off too); Amazon must work from an algorithm or something. Ep1 was very thrilling, lotta characters, questions, moving parts, a funny feel for geek culture, a welcome not overly serious cast. But it dwindles as it goes.....
Dealing with a growing alarm of a pandemic crisis, partly interesting, partly not. And personally, I found the constant child violence really off-putting. There's no standout in the cast....... Cusack has some good moments (the way he locks in and tricks who he's talking to with his patterned charisma) but I didn't buy the character. Also all this talk of "Mr Rabbit" made me think of just one thing.

4 episodes in and I'm really liking this. It's nowhere near as good as the British version, but it's still really good.It also might be the most timely tv show I've ever watched in my life(it's about a pandemic).

Outta here....... deadline.com/2020/11/utopia-canceled-amazon-one-season-1234622675/ Amazon has opted not to order a second season of Utopia, its straight-to-series adaptation of the British drama, written by Gone Girl author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn. The series, starring John Cusack, Sasha Lane and Rainn Wilson, premiered on Sept. 25 to so-so reviews and had a quiet run.

As was talked about before ........Cusack just can't catch a break ........at one time I would have said he was a more interesting actor than vanilla wafer Ethan Hawke who in the last few years is like Olivier by comparison .........and getting all the breaks that Cusack can no longer afford to buy..... .
