At the very least, it will be GREAT for my beloved "Best Actor Across All Mediums" thread I can tell you now that McDormand is the easily the least-accomplished Triple Crown winner, ever.

I agree in some ways - she's a fascinating weird case though, ie - it's amazing how much she's accomplished, given her relative limited stardom, her limited stage and TV experience, her physical appearance - etc. I love her work but I don't think of her as an actress quite the way I think of some of her peers with a lot of work like Moore or Hunter etc........but she's given some definitive, specifically great stuff - and we all know what they are .......it's just that they doesn't fit the "arc" of a typical TC winner - either in the wins and when they came or the career overall.

Why'd DDL have to quit? It's have been fun watching him and Denzel go head to head in more Oscar seasons for supremacy in their 60's. And while he never quite mastered Shakespeare on stage, I guess one of the few things left for an actor of DDL's particular taste would be to do a major Shakespeare on film. Maybe in twenty years, we'll see PTA come to DDL and say, "Fuck it -- wanna do Lear?" And Day-Lewis will rise like a phoenix, with Joaquin as his Fool, and that fourth Oscar will be anointed unto him beneath the songs of angels. Interesting that we talked about the top American auteurs the other day. You had your top 5, that matched mine except for Spike Lee. Going by my 6, DDL has 3 and Denzel will now have 2 with this project. Wonder if this is the start of a phase where the big gun auteurs specifically go out of their way to curate projects that can allow them to work with Denzel. Not that I'm particularly excited by Spielberg these days, but he seems like someone who holds grudges, and Denzel was not very PC in how he turned down Amistad. Not a big loss if they never work together for me. Don't think Tarantino has ever fully gotten over Denzel chewing him out on the set of Crimson Tide for his excessive use of the N-word...If he has, they'd be magic together. Under usual circumstances, Denzel is the kind of actor Tarantino would give his left nut to read his dialogue. Scorsese is probably going to be attached to DiCaprio for his next few projects after The Irishman. Would be very interested to see PTA do something with Denzel.

A bit tired of Macbeth and of Shakespeare adaptations but with this bunch behind it...I can't help but be very excited! Although I do wonder why no Ethan this time round...or maybe he'll join later? Anyway, I just hope that the Coen voice is heard here not just in the filmmaking but in the dialogue as well.

I'm noting the names of all the people who "can't see" Frances in this, so I can make fun on them when she will absolutely destroys that role of Lady Macbeth because she definitely will. Plus she played the part several times, the first was when she was 14 years old, it was the first time she acted in front of people, it's probably a special role for her.
1 month ago Denzel has no project, now he has 3, things can happen very quickly.

F'n troll........oh sorry, you know who Sophie Marceau is you're a film lover.

Yeah...I don't really understand anyone doubting McDormand for Lady Macbeth. One, she's trained in Shakespeare and has already played the role before. Two, she's knows how to play an ornery bitch. She could be one of the great Lady Macbeths. And I can see her having great chemistry with Denzel. She's a force, not a weak link.

Genuinely not sure why people are doubting McDormand's cred here. She's played the role several times, as you've said, and from what I hear she plays it completely different from traditional portrayals of the role. This feels to me like a McDormand passion project that her husband decided to help bring to fruition, and I'm guessing during the last Oscar season, she and Washington must've talked Shakespeare and she decided to bring him on board. Plus this is a Coen adaptation, which leads me to believe it won't be a traditional depiction of the story, and will likely be transplanted to a different era and nation. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it favors Lady Macbeth as a character even over the title role.

Very first thoughts: Holy shit.
So.... Fran played Lady Macbeth in California at the beginning of 2016 - most of the reviews are mixed on the play but have high praise for her. And she has said "My fantasy as a child was playing Lady Macbeth." If Ethan really isn't involved, he could be busy with a play or something like that, or probably this is more Fran's baby and Joel her husband is doing this for her, so not really a "Coens" whipped up idea.
Anyway, these three together it's a dream team of talent. Very very excited.

I can tell you a family member of mine almost died in that period while I was missing from Oscar Buzz in early 2017...........so yeah nah ..........you had absolutely no reason to post what you did - the words are "I'm sorry" ..........not "you should do the same"...not "I was joking"......and certainly not "thank you". All you have to do is say you're sorry - but without that......... nah you forgot it, I'll remember it.

but I don't see McDormand at all and not opposite him. I love McDormand but she's a female TC crown winner with very limited great work and it's all work in a pretty narrow strand too. Maybe Ethan agrees with you, and that's why he's not here "Is this a vanity project that I see before me?! A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nepotism! The love that follows us sometime is our trouble. I go and we are done." etc.

This is word for word what I said at the time " I think Pacinoyes completely lost it since his amazing one man show during the last awards season, it was fun discussing with him about Denzel before but now it's bullsh/t after bullsh/t, not interesting anymore." Maybe you misunderstood what I've said but I see nothing truly offensive here, at least not enough for you to act the way you are acting. Asking for someone to apologize (months...year later) on a film forum because he says that you were saying bullsh/t stuff.....I think you are being a litle dramatic here. And my message has nothing to do with that period where you were missing on IMDB, I'm talking about the Roman Israel award season which was on this forum. If there is a misunderstatement, it's there ! So, no, I won't apologize for what I said that day, because I see nothing truly offensive (or out of what that can be said on a film forum on a bad day) and because I truly meant it. Now I will keep ignoring you (if you bring it again) and wisely give up to another long, time's wasting battle between us....in your words, I will be a coward.

I didn't come back to you months later at all, I rather replied in that thread - look at the thread you are quoting. If you're not referring to the period when I was out Jan-March+ 2017 when my family member was ill - well, I gave you plenty of opportunities in the moment to say what you just said here now - a year later - but you didn't. But I can't even believe you now anyway - all I have ever said about Roman Israel - look it up! - is it's an adequate but not nodwothy performance and I believe all you ever said to me was you hadn't yet seen it, that's the extent of it - that's hardly your "bullsh it after bull sh it" quote - and since it doesn't remotely fit that quote it clearly implies something else and something else is the ...... 2016 : Denzel Washington vs. Casey Affleck - when I wasn't here at all for 4-5 months, I wasn't here for nominations even or SAGs even (!) in that year and said nothing much in the 2017 season - but you purposely misrepresented that in your post and now instead of saying you went batshit crazy with that post - sorry about that pacinoyes - you choose to ramble on and on and on about blah blah blah. Dick move..........

In one week both Christopher Nolan and Joel Coen have finally cast black men as their leads -- and father and son at that. What happened? Have these directors been replaced by the tethered? Who's next? Woody Alle--nevermind. This sounds so fucking bold and I'm so fucking in.
Denzel is coming for Oscar #3. And if they push McDormand supporting, she likely could too...

I didn't choose to "ramble on and on and on about blah blah blah", I'm just being honest here. It's true, I choose to ignore you for a long time and trust me that it wasn't easy, normally I'm a pitbull in these situations and I want the last word, but I decided to play it differently and to ignore you because I though you were acting stupid and that you clearly knew about what I was talking about with that message (I think Pacinoyes completely lost it.....) and didn't want to waste more time and energy. Listen Pacinoyes, I probably shouldn't do that (because I don't care if you beleive me or not) but I will do it, I will show you a message from a discussion ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY, I had with someone here, which just show that I was saying exactly what I'm saying right now. I called you a clown tho Now take it the way you want, I could still go in details or blablabla like you say, but I don't care. I'm not a bad person or a liar and I was being honest with you in my last message. This one will be the real last on that subject.

That PM you put up actually rather proves my point - that's a PM where you're talking about "destroying" me, so you came out in the thread and acted like a troll while you were vague about what period were referring to, to provoke me only - nobody saw this PM but everybody saw the thread - that IS actually the definition of a troll. "He posted enough for me to came here" but you can't refer to any post regarding Roman Israel but if anyone just types Roman Israel and looks for pacinoyes posts they are benign - not terrible at all, just that he's not nodworthy.........you never came at me like a pitbull or a French poodle or anything in an actual thread - you merely trolled me and hid the time period while doing it in your post and then revealed yourself as an actual troll rather than just an alleged one by sharing your PM. You're the Jussie Smollett of this board and I kind of think you are a rather bad person and a liar actually - all you have to do is read the post as I saw in the thread and that PM you just posted from the same day. When I say Denzel is great I mean it and when I saw he's not I mean that too - it's a movie board, I talk about movies but I always assess him honestly - I have never, ever said I'm going to "destroy" somebody or go after somebody (with smiley faces, clown without). That actually is also the definition of liar, troll - do you not get that? Dude, you don't have to say you're sorry to me..........you literally are sorry.

I don't know what is wrong with you and I'm actually surprised by that attitude, you are probably more than just a clown. I tried to come to something with you but failed, too bad. I can't promise you I'll ignore you - probably not - but what's it matter anyway, you'll be busy PM'ing away with your friend/lover/partner(s) in crime because your obsessed with me and whether I've gone "too far against Denzel" and "whether I crossed a line", I don't think about you guys ever but you guys are obsessed with me, it's kinda flattering in a psychotic sorta way- that's really such a great PM..........reveals the troll and so easily quotable too......so much rope.

Anyway, now we are back on topic again, wondering what the supporting cast for this will look like? Will Joel rope in their usual Coen troupe of actors, or cast more experienced Shakespeare performers? I don't really feel like seeing George Clooney or Brad Pitt play Macduff or Banquo, but I suspect their are some Coen regulars versed in Shakespeare. I can almost guarantee that Tim Blake-Nelson should be in this, as he's done Shakespeare on stage for repatory companies.
I'm sure most of Coens regulars will want roles in this even if they aren't experienced Shakespearians. The potential of the project is too big.
