Top 5 here but snubbed from the best picture top 10 at the AMARAs...
The other voters were right, tbh.

Beale Street was clunky as hell. Some nice moments in it though.

whyyyyy do people like First Man so much? It's such a forgettable and basic character study that takes one aspect of Armstrong's life and blows it up to a one-note two-hour experience. Gosling's performance is dull and impenetrable because there's nothing there to latch onto. He's not a fully-formed human being, just a personification of emotionally isolated glumness. The score, editing and VFX are the only things about that film that have anything resembling a spark of life.

First Man was significantly better than it had any right to be. Dragged down by some biopic cliches, but still very good overall.

I look at it as a film about transcendence and all of the baggage that would come with it, as per human nature, more than anything. The final shot really cements this.

It's time for people to stop trying to convince themselves that Roma is a good movie..........

Lol'd hard at that Catrician quote. Well, at least it didn't win.

that quote Hereditary is pretty great I guess but it starts losing steam by the midpoint and grows steadily less convincing toward the end. First 30 minutes are stomach-churning though, in the best way possible!

Can’t believe I missed the majority of this. Love the presentation style, though (yay, some of my quotes made it).
And of course, Huzzah! The Favourite is the victor.

My Best Picture wins the last two years have topped this list. This isn’t helping the perception of me as a conformist.
But jokes aside, wonderful job, Sharbsy! Celebrate gloriously.
