This movie will have an anthropomorphic demon animal, talking cups, candles, clocks, chairs, and whatever else, involve magic, a woman who can read, and take place in France. This all already adds up to "heathenistic liberal propaganda" as it is, but one little homo destroys their faith in Disney.

I don't think it's gonna happen. As idiotic as our Ministry of Culture is, it's only one member of Duma who wants this movie to get banned. And he's pretty well-known as one of the most extreme anti-gay motherfuckers in the country. A complete piece of shit. Unless LeFou has a full-on makeout session with a dude in the movie, it should be fine. BUT if they ban it here...then holy shit can you guys please collect some money for me to leave this place?

Wonder what this "exclusively gay moment" will be in a family movie. Probably LeFou declaring his love for Gaston or another male character. Don't see anything non-family-friendly about that. I wonder how they are going to work that one out too.

Ryan_MYeah GLC was a children TV show. I saw that episode too. This case was in terms of a live action feature film for families. And who were the lesbian couple again in Finding Dory? I must've missed that one. I agree that Disney should've kept this one a surprise, depending how blunt the film is going to be about it. Like what Lakia did with Paranorman. wonky The website design looked like a kid made it. I also briefly read somewhere how that drive-in previously had a double feature for Hacksaw Ridge with Fantastic Beasts. harlequinade The Keyword there is "may". So it sounds like they're teetering about the idea until they preview it.

And who were the lesbian couple again in Finding Dory? I must've missed that one. It's the two women that hand Hank back the sippy cup in the stroller. Apparently it was a thing that became a big deal for whatever reason. And it had to be pointed out to me, because it's such a non-event in context.

I thought that commotion was about the animals. I literally had to look up a clip for that scene, and the women appear to hold arms in the end. Apparently Ellen DeGeneres said it wasn't the case. Even so, that scene was one of those blink-and-you-miss moments. And, you're right, it is a non-event in context and more of a scavenger hunt for the internet. The pair could've also been relatives or BFFs for all we know.

I wonder if anyone could find a list of movies that Alabama theater has shown that have graphic violence and sex. I bet they showed Hacksaw Ridge Seriously, if you choose not to release a film because one of the characters is gay, you must have a really really really really small list of things that don't offend you. That statement reads like it could have been drafted by Anita Bryant circa-1977. Whyyyyyy are so people so slow to evolve their small minds. This is their websiteLooks like Rogue One is the only PG-13 listed, but someone on their Facebook claims they showed Ted 2 and Fifty Shades Darker? Impeccable site design, by the way. But Ted 2 and Fifty Shades were R-rated, If Beauty and the Beast were R-rated too they'd probably show it. I think they have a problem with movies showing a gay message to children.

But theater can decide the rating of a movie and the policy of who can see it as they wishes, MPAA is purely a suggestion that this theater (or any) do not has to follow, many theater didn't follow the R-rating of Micheal Moore documentaries for example, they can act as if Beauty and the Beast is NC-17 if they want too. That said you could still be right thought, has they probably suspect that if they do not let kid enter a beauty and the beast movie it will create issue at the ticket boot (more than if it was R everywhere), simpler just not have it shown.

Wonder what this "exclusively gay moment" will be in a family movie. Probably something very minor in passing, like the final punchline of Casey Affleck's character in ParaNorman.

Russia is releasing it with 16+ rating Well.... better than a complete ban, I guess. I wonder if those distributors even preview the film first?

Hey, what about the gay couple in Frozen?! (anyone remember that bullshit?)
Guess I'm the only one here who is kind of iffy about this news, though not because I'm a homophobe (although LeFou - which literally translates to "The Fool" in English - is a villainous lacky, so I don't see making HIM Disney's first openly gay character as very progressive, anyway), but because I preferred LeFou when he was a Gretchen Weiner type who just followed and worshiped whoever's alpha. Plus, Gaston and the rest of that town don't seem like the types that would be cool about it. France criminalized homosexual acts until the revolution...I realize this movie is about magic spells and talking furniture, but still.

According to the New York Times, the moment in question is three seconds long and shows LeFou dancing with a man at the end. In other words, even less noticible than the moment in Frozen.
