Poor woman! That must have been like a real punch in the face. I prefered Colman's performance but still... 😭😭😭

At least she didn't lose to Gaga, thank god for that. But when you realize fucking Rami Malek is an Oscar Winner and Glenn Close still isn't....

I still think she has a chance to get one. I don't know why everyone's acting like this was her last chance.

I still think she has a chance to get one. I don't know why everyone's acting like this was her last chance. Because of her age, and the huge gap between her previous nomination and her nomination for Albert Nobbs, and Glenn doesn't seem to be appreciated by the Academy.

She probably would still lose it somehow . And Lady Gaga has an Oscar, but Glenn Close doesnt. I'm out.

Don’t worry, she’ll win one for Sunset Boulevard.

Just woke up to the very disappointing news she lost, and to add insult to injury, she lost to someone who played a supporting role. I can't even face going on YouTube to watch a clip of Colman winning and see Close perform her losing Oscar face for the seventh time .

They can keep their stinky Honorary Oscar. They lost their chance(s) to reward her, fuck them.

That is totally why I was saying can't we just not give Spike Lee his undeserved screenplay one last night anyway......um

She needs a true Oscar, She doesn't need that nobody remember award! Streep and Lange already got 2 and She's still got Zero, so unfair. Streep has 3 buddy.

I'm happy for Colman - she's a sweetheart and she was great fun in her film. But if there had to be an Acting upset last night, could it not have been Grant or Cooper?

A much better performance won and that's all I care about. But I do feel kinda bad for Close, yes. However, I suspect that "Sunset Boulevard" will definitely be her main play - she and the studio that'll handle it will do EVERYTHING to get it. And I also think that more notable projects might be coming her way after this awards season. I have a hunch she'll win pretty soon.

We shouldn't think this was Glenn's final chance. My generation is kind of indifferent towards her, but my mom was really pissed that she lost. And mostly older people went to watch The Wife at the movies. With all think "give Glenn Close an Oscar" talk, if I were an indie filmmaker, I'd call her this evening to try and make something with her. It's not like Olivia Colman shot her in the face and she died during that speech.

I haven’t seen Bohemian Rhapsody and probaly won’t get around it to but you speak like Malek is a bad actor or something. He’s excellent on Mr. Robot and was never less than good in the smaller film roles I’ve seen him in, e.g.,The Master and Short Term 12.

She doesn't need a pity honorary Oscar. She should have won by now. An honorary one would be such an insult.

She'll win lead actress within the next 5 years. The amount of outrage/pity for her after last night seems incredibly high... she just needs the right film and she'll steamroll.

She doesn't need a pity honorary Oscar. She should have won by now. An honorary one would be such an insult. Should she have though? Every time she's been up there have been better performances. I like her as much as the next man but whatever sympathy I feel for her is tempered by the fact that the more deserving performance won last night.

I guess its all how you see it, but to me 7 time American vs. 1 time Brit who at best was only slightly better and category fraud arguably does not warrant that result to me. Close lost to Cher in '87 and while she wasn't best in category Cher was 5th in category yanno? That show went all to hell at the end at that point anyway - that sick feeling then with Streisand (I'll tell you what Spike Lee's masterpiece is when he makes it Babs), then with well we can't give it to a foreign film and none of our films were better than pretty good but.......... I think that's part of the hangover reaction - that was a lot of weirdness after not much had happened prior....
