Roma winning almost feels too good to actually happen, but I don't know what else to go with. Green Book missed Best Director, couldn't even pull off the WGA win over a Bo Burnham comedy that was completely shut out by the Academy, and just feels too 90s to fit with the past few BP winners. The last bit might be my own bias clouding my judgment, but it does differ drastically from the Academy's current sensibilities, even if it is exactly the type of film that thrives under a preferential ballot system (thus its PGA victory). I'd be predicting it if it'd won the WGA, but the multiple controversies plus its Director snub may have torpedoed its chances just like Three Billboards's did last year. BlacKkKlansman seems universally well-liked, but is there any reason to believe it incites enough passion? The Favourite has a lot of momentum right now, but even the Brits went with Roma for Best Film. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. Black Panther and A Star is Born seem to be old news, and are missing key Directing/Editing/guild support. Bohemian Rhapsody has even less stats working in its favor... but on the other hand, thanks to the preferential ballot, it pulling off an upset wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world. Everyone involved has managed to successfully sell this narrative that it's the first film in the history of cinema to manifest itself into existence without a director to helm it, so why the fuck not? Those Queen guys sure made some great music, and that Live Aid sure was a great concert.

Hopefully anything but Roma. Even Boremian Crapsody? I don’t want ever to win and even though I rate Roma higher, if I’m going to be disappointed I’d rather get the entertainment of all the meltdowns over BR winning.

Is The Favourite being in second a hope thing or an actual belief thing?

I knew it was between The Favourite and Green Book and I decided to go with the former cause of what looked like more support but this year was the year where critical support meant nothing. And when I say critical support, even Crash did better with the critics.

three times in a row that I've been wrong about the BP winner Me too. After being right 13 years in a row from 2003 until 2015 before. Times at the oscars have really changed.
Almost wanted to pick Green Book yesterday, but tried to stay "safe".
