I predict that Vashti Bunyan's masterpiece didn't make a single ballot.

Well Bunyan may have made a couple - I mean she has gotten great praise from Pitchfork so its possible, she has been rediscovered which is a cool thing. I think we are due to see a rather Classic Rock list - and by that I mean a not very pacinoyes type of list - Dark Side of the Moon, Rumours, Blood on the Tracks, Born To Run all in the top 5 but my beloved Johnny Thunders (played on 4 great albums of the decade), Big Star struggling to get on it at all. We'll see.....good luck everyone

I'm going to go out on a limb for the 5th album - I'm not a big metal guy but I do like early Sabbath (first 3 I guess) and I think a lot of people on this board do too.
To me this is their best song - a Vietnam drug song in 1970 (!) - they see the whole world as a grotesque horror movie - this version with slightly different lyrics they'd record it with is a testament to just how out there they were in 1970. I'm saying this cracks the top 5 and outpoints every Zeppelin and punk album too.

A total of 152 albums received at least one mention, an increase from the 103 receiving mentions in the 60s poll.
The highest amount of appearances was 8/14 ballots. That ended up being our #1. Similar to the 60s where the most ballot appearances was also 8 (Are You Experienced - Jimi Hendrix Experience), but that one ended up being #8 in the poll.
We had 5 leaders throughout (6 since one of them had 2 separate runs as #1), all of them finished in the Top 15. Our winner was the last lead holder and our runner-up was the one that had 2 runs as #1 early. Very different from the 60s poll where there were 4 leaders throughout voting and all of them made the Top 4. This time I kept track of who was leading after each ballot. Those stats will be presented at the end of the presentation.
The minimum amount of points needed to make the Top 50 was 28, the most amount needed to crack the list so far.

Ties were broken by the usual format:
1. # of ballot appearances 2. Highest ballot ranking 3. Average ballot ranking
There were two ties, all other ties managed to be broken.

Shocked that Rumours is so low... Nice to see Nighthawks at the Diner, pretty sure I forgot to put it on my ballot and that was an oversight on my part, oops. Glad to see Hunky Dory and Fear of Music as well — not bad so far.

Only the mighty Faces made my list from that group because they go so well with beer but I will say that's a pretty diverse bunch of records there......
