Great news... it really would have sucked if he had to drop Mindhunter to do WWZ2.

This sequel is coming way too late.

It is nice to know that they are taking their time with it.

Hopefully Fincher will notice he has no business doing a sequel no one wants to see.

^^^ Yeah , I've cooled on this shit. Initially , it was sorta dope to hear that Fincher & Pitt would be teaming up for a horror film . BUT that horror happens to be a sequel to a mediocre film lol. Really want Fincher to direct something different now tbh. No clue what that would be though. On a side note, very cool that he'll be heavily involved with another season of Mindhunter so thats a plus at least.

Mindhunter is a throw-back to good old Zodiac days, so that's a plus.

A seven year gap? How can anyone think that this is a good idea?

A seven year gap? How can anyone think that this is a good idea? Because it worked so well for Alice Through the Looking Glass.

A seven year gap? How can anyone think that this is a good idea? This is strange. Who even cares about it at this point? Do something else with Pitt if you want to work with him bad.

I swear Fincher must be in love with Pitt. It's the only explanation as to why he'd do this.He is soooo above this kind of material.

The Playlist justed published it. Now Fincher just has to return to the Utopia project with Flynn and bring Rooney Mara back with him. One can only dream so much...

No. No no no. Fincher and especially Flynn need to stay as far away from Utopia as possible. Fincher's dreary doom-'n'-gloom aesthetic and Flynn's hackneyed brand of "storytelling" are absolutely the wrong fit for Utopia.

Good. I disliked the first part and it would have been even more of a waste of time for Fincher if he would have finished it than it was already this way. I just hope he picks up an interesting project for a new film now and gets into the realisation soon. It's already five years since Gone Girl. I would have liked him to take on an adaptation of Jules Verne's great "20.000 Leagues under the Sea", but this is dead as well.

I would have never thought I'd be happy to hear 'a Fincher project' and 'canceled' in the same sentence.
He shouldn't waste his time developing something big budget again after what he experienced with Disney and now Paramount. Get something with a reasonable price tag going and start shooting this summer. Hey, I hear Brad Pitt is free...

I’m a huge David Fincher fan but this seriously is a relief. World War Z was such a dull and predictable movie and I had no desire to see a sequel to it. I’d be really happy to see David Fincher and Brad Pitt collaborate again but not like this.

So that's three projects in a row cancelled after spending months and months developing them. Here's an idea: since you're already working at Netflix pitch them something, anything, they'll probably do it.
