stephen has completely sold me on Armie Hammer as Batman. He was cast in the role in George Miller's Justice League back when he was a complete unknown but I think he'd be a much better fit now. He's probably the Bruce Wayne we could get. However, I'd still be up for Jon Hamm, Channing Tatum, Jake Gyllenhaal and even Richard Madden if they feel they must go very young. Still think he'd be the best Bond replacement though.

Noir, rogues gallery, emotional arc, how about doing a loose adaptation of Batman: Hush?

I'm putting my foot down, no fucking Armie Hammer.
Though, they'll probably end up casting Timothee Chalamet as Bruce and Elle Fanning as Alfred at this point.

My vote is an unknown for Batman, but if they want names here's my dream cast:
Batman/Bruce Wayne - Robert Pattinson (not only would he be perfect, but he'd uphold the tradition of royally pissing off fanboys beforehand) Nightwing/Dick Grayson - John Boyega Commissioner Gordon - Giancarlo Esposito Oracle/Barbara Gordon-Grayson - Tessa Thompson Lincoln March - Armie Hammer Alfred Pennyworth - Charles Dance Catwoman/Selina Kyle - Rooney Mara Julie Madison - Elizabeth Debicki The Talon - Iko Uwais

Commissioner Gordon - Giancarlo Esposito Oracle/Barbara Gordon-Grayson - Tessa Thompson Alfred Pennyworth - Charles Dance Nice list, these especially would be just incredible I feel like I'd rather see Debicki than Mara as Selina Kyle actually, but either would be a solid choice.

I feel like I'd rather see Debicki than Mara as Selina Kyle actually, but either would be a solid chance. Yeah I bounced around between the two, but I see a fire in Mara's eyes that I think would translate perfectly onscreen when she's behind the mask. I also think with her in the role there'd be less emphasis placed on the character's "sexiness" (not to say Mara isn't sexy) and more focus on her hyper-competence and fierceness. Debicki is a very strong actress, and personally I don't want to see another thankless, one-dimensional romantic interest for Bruce. Rachel Dawes was the dullest, lamest character in Nolan's trilogy (he really has a problem writing women, doesn't he?), so casting someone of Debicki's talent is my way of forcing Julie Madison to be a more integral part of the story. Since we all know he's eventually going to be a part of this franchise, who would be your choice for the Joker? For two decades I've wanted Sam Rockwell for the role (ever since I saw him in The Green Mile), but now he'd be too old to go toe-to-toe with an early thirties Batman. I really have no idea who I'd want at the moment. Any thoughts?

I really have no idea who I'd want at the moment. Any thoughts? Ooh, younger Rockwell woulda been a really interesting choice, I agree. With casting a role like the Joker, I think it's more a matter of finding someone who has the right potential rather than necessarily someone who's already delved into similar characters into the past. That's what made Ledger's casting so genius, and so controversial when it first announced. For a new rendition of the character, it'd be interesting to see something like that ... that might be an interesting role for Robert Pattinson, actually. Nicholas Hoult, maybe. Or someone like Barry Keoghan? He has such a creepy look to him, and after Sacred Deer I think he's proven that he could make for one hell of a psychotic super-villain. Just spitballing names here, I'm really not sure...

Pattinson’s career doing the full 360? It seems he’s back in movie star mode now...
Well, if there’s anyone who should know about being a bat, it’s a guy who played a vampire for five years.

Didn't see that coming.
Edit: hope this doesn't get in the way with him doing The Stars at Noon with Claire Denis.

Pattinson’s career doing the full 360? It seems he’s back in movie star mode now... Well, if there’s anyone who should know about being a bat, it’s a guy who played a vampire for five years. Almost all these actors who do their time in the indie/arthouse realm after being seen as blockbuster actors of limited range or talent, are simply being strategic. They like being in giant studio blockbusters that millions of people will watch. But they (And their management/agents) know it's hard to last the course if people think you have little talent. They can afford to spend a couple of years doing arthouse movies for credibility because they made so much money off their franchises. So you do a lot of arthouse films with respected directors...and once your "cred" is suitably built up, you can return to big bucks studio blockbusters. Kirsten Stewart has done it (now star of Charlie's Angels), Pattinson is doing it. Dakota Johnson is currently in her "arthouse credibility" phase after the 50 Shades Of Grey films...but soon as she and her agents think she's worked up enough cred, it's back to big studio films. Very few actors with star profiles are truly about that indie/arthouse life in the long term.

Yeah, he's not gonna be able to get away with painted on abs like he had in Twilight.
...but he looks like he's been working out recently.

THR's saying Pattinson is the frontrunner on a shortlist including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Armie Hammer, so it's not official yet.

I like Pattinson, but I'm not sure he's a good fit. He's got the jawline, but he's definitely going to need to bulk the fuck up. If this were a live-action Batman Beyond, he'd actually be perfect as Terry McGinnis. Better him than Hammer, ATJ, and Hoult though

If I had my damn druthers outta those four guys, gotta go Pattinson. He's a promising, interesting, at times odd and unpredictable talent. I said in a recent post, he has a knack lately to fit into a director's vision and I could see him being pretty effective here.

Hope it’s Pattinson. Now I want Cronenberg to direct this (that way Irons can stay as Alfred and also have, I don’t know, Goldblum as Man-Bat or something.)
