I was thinking of the history of these 2 men in terms of a film - to a whole generation of people they are unknown as heroes only villains right now - but for a long time in the public spotlight they were heroic too and both men (former Time persons of the year dontchaknow) seem incredibly linked:
Trump an employer of people in private business, NYC celebrity, Giuliani 9/11 hero and as the man who really broke the mafia in NYC in the 80s (and the US too) and a former mayor of NYC. Trump of course made his name in construction in NYC and Atlantic City - mob hot beds no doubt - imagine the stories they could tell, lol...........for everyone who thinks that there will obviously one day be a movie on Trump's presidency is the better movie actually about the strange history and life in the spotlight past and present of these 2 men the more interesting story?
Was going to post this in the movie thread but thought it may get a better cross discussion and intersection here instead........

What's happened to Giuliani is just sad. He could have been President if he'd run for Governor of NY and not run such a clusterfuck of a Presidential campaign like he did in 08. Watching him sell out for Trump is just embarrassing and I don't know why he's bothering. As you noted in the OP he used to be the enemy of people like him.
If you're going to do a Trump/Giuliani movie I think more needs to happen to justify it. If Trump gets impeached or driven to resignation and Giuliani ends up in jail you might have fodder for a movie. If this thing between them has a more boring resolution it might be a little bit of a stretch.
Not really what you talked about, but I thought recently (I think spurred on by seeing Vice) of the best way to do a Trump movie, and I think the best thing to do in the short term after he's President is to have him not be a character in the movie. Focus on the people in his administration who have to clean up all his messes and put the real Trump in the movie through stock footage and seeing him on TV in the movie. Someone like Trump is actually really hard to satirize because he's so blatantly ridiculous. Satire works best when it's something that on some level can be taken seriously. So I think the way to do it is to direct it like a serious docudrama with low key acting, but then the things happening are farcical and silly. If Trump's presidency had been scripted everyone would have thought it was a comedy, so you don't really need to try to make it funny, it just is. I think that's why a lot of the attempts to make fun of Trump fall flat.
Also I find it hard to believe that any performance as Trump in the short term wouldn't drift into a parody impersonation unless you got a legit all time great actor like DDL or something. I think some time has to pass to really do a Trump biopic.

Yeah, I'd agree, I don't think the facts of his presidency translate to straight drama necessarily and the facts of his whole life translate to something odder and more sad potentially. I don't know, a spoiled kid who had everything until he got (literally) everything and felt nothing inside at all (for example) - so maybe the paternal relationship with his dad or his relationship with his brother who died could be used as a counterpoint or entry point for drama. You'd need some sort of off the beaten path hook or off-kilter way into his life material I think.

I honestly think the best way to do a film (or, really, a series) based off of this administration is not to have anyone play Trump, and only see him through archival footage. No one could convincingly play him because, well, he's a cartoonish figure as it is and no matter how close an actor might get to looking and sounding like him, it'll never be as completely off-the-wall as the real McCoy.
The way to do it is to make a story about the people around him: your Kushners and Bannons and Mooches and McConnells. Keep Trump off-screen like Maris in Frasier.

I guess should be a boring movie, none will watch it.-
More interesting should be a Melania Biopic directed by Pablo Larrain, and of course this will never made (at least by Larrain, maybe MacKay as a commedy if in one scene Melania Finds Donalds having sex wit Ivanka).-
Giuliani probably will have his miniseries, any soon or any later, probably, after he will be dead.-

I mean... Who would watch such a thing? Beyond the members of his cult, of course...
