God Emperor Nolan returns!
Looks really intriguing. Since the IMAX theatre in Kolkata has finally reopened, I might just check it out in that format.

I'm really really confused, so it must be a Nolan movie

I immediately thought of that film as I saw the trailer. Still, should be good.

Afterlife, World War 3... what was that all about Looks amazing though. I don't think that was meant to be literal. Looks like JDW's character is rescued after near death and is then offered a mission of some kind that may or may not be related to whatever it was that almost killed him (nice to see Martin Donovan in a Nolan movie again!). This trailer predictably doesn't reveal a ton, but it actually showed more than I was expecting. At least we can say with absolute certainty that the film will feature time fvckery in some way (perhaps possession of powerful, time-manipulating technology is the basis of the potential WWIII conflict).

Trailer hyped me beyond belief. Also WB has dispensed with the whole "From the Director of the Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar, Inception, etc". Nolan is his own brand name now.

Looks like a Nolan film alright.
Feels like they are really making a statement with the marketing of John David Washington as the star. Only him on the poster, only his name on the trailer.
Robert Pattinson has his Twilight fame and is the next Batman, so you'd typically expect them to try and make it look like they are equally billed stars. But it's all about JDW. Hell of an opportunity for him to be the face of a production this big. Also a testament to the drawing power of Nolan that they don't feel the need to market Pattinson as co-lead.

Yeah, we sort of knew that time manipulation was going to be a major facet in the plot. The trailer pretty much clarified what could be the catalyst to all of this, whilst still keeping it’s cards firmly close to it’s chest. What is obvious though is that JDW controls the entire narrative, that time is a highly unpredictable antagonist and whatever consequences that could transpire is all down to how quickly he can adapt to the nature of the world he’s been thrown back into. It’s all about getting bang smack in the middle of the whole merry-go-round process. “Don’t try to understand it....feel it.” Also, anyone else notice a nod to Tarkovsky’s Stalker with that railway scene shot? I absolutely adore this Nolan/Hoyte van Hoytema collaboration.

Anyone else catch the prologue yet? As much as the trailer is great, the prologue is a completely different animal. It’s up there with TDK in terms of tension, pacing, ambiguity and all around fantastic direction. Ludwig Göransson‘s score is unbelievably pulsating as well. This is probably Nolan’s trickiest sell yet what with the sci-fi elements that are present and blink and you’ll miss it sequences. But it just leaves you wanting so much more.

Really enjoyed it, but it does feel like the least "standalone" prologue of Nolan's films so far. It took me a couple watches to follow what was actually happening... exciting stuff nonetheless.
