Naomi Watts received rave reviews for her performances in "Luce" and "The Wolf Hour". I just read this tweet: seeing good reviews for a Naomi Watts project in 2019 is a sext tbh And it's sooo fuckin true 😂 But Wolf Hour has been getting some bad reviews whereas people are liking Luce. I am just happy these two movies are not awful! So Yay! 🤪

The Souvenir, The Report (picked up by Amazon) and The Farewell (picked up by A24) are already doing very well on Rotten Tomatoes.

So there hasn’t been too much word yet on Hala — a coming-of-age drama about a Muslim teen, the film has been acquired by Apple — but what word there is seems positive, and more importantly I just found out that its writer-director, Minhal Baig, is a story editor on BoJack Horseman, and that’s all it takes to get me hyped quite frankly. This one’s going on my radar.

I read some tweets and Octavia Spencer is being touted as a very strong Supporting Actress contender for Luce.

NEON is distributing the film. Sadly it won't go anywhere. Yeah, the studio that just released a film that garnered a supporting actress win last year. Spencer is screwed!

Neon lucked out with I, Tonya, but Janney was immensely respected in the industry and Margot Robbie was campaigning hard for the film overall. There were people here who thought that Portman was a shoo-in when they bought Vox Lux, which, lol. Neon's on the board with a win, but they're still largely untested.

We shouldn't count Neon out so soon. They have campaigned in two season so far: one was very successful, but with a very crow-pleasing movie. Other was a disaster, but they had a movie that was a very tough-sell. Luce seems to be the middle-ground between these two extremes, so let's see how they handle this movie in a year-long campaign.
